Publisher's summary

First the dead rose up, and civilization fell. Those who survived struggled to rebuild, creating makeshift societies with harsh new rules and harsher punishments. Some would be leaders, others slaves. But none would ever be safe from the walking death.

Off the coast of Texas, an island research facility offers sanctuary, supplies, and hope to a desperate trio of survivors. But when they learn what the scientists are doing, how their experiments could unleash armies of the undead, they have no choice but to fight back.

It was okay

Hmmmmm, it was an okay read. Narrator’s voice for women was a bit much and they all sound heavy cigarette smoking southerners. (I’m from Georgia and don’t smoke and absolutely don’t sound like this). That voice was very distracting. Overall story was okay but characters lacked a lot of likable qualities. Story was open ended so could possibly be more to come but unfortunately I would not seek out the sequel.

It just keeps getting better

The McKinney and McLaren team pull off another winner. The story line and trading kept me glued to this audio book. At tones I felt the characters pain, joy and sadness. Thanks again guys for a great book in the series.

Take your time do it right

Independent writers either need to learn how to proofread and edit and/or hire someone to look it over. I can’t believe that software programs wouldn’t have helped too. When I see books like this, I cringe. My understanding is that this author for a quick minute was signed. Maybe I’m wrong because when you put something out that has this many issues, you obviously don’t respect your readers.

Editor wanted: apply within

Mr. McKinney's ideas are good, and his writing is decent, but this book DESPERATELY needs an editor. Redundant adjectives, phrases, and thoughts occur repeatedly. With concise editing, this book could be 100% better, and probably 30% shorter.
