Publisher's summary

This book is a wonderfully evocative and enigmatic tale of two children's fight against a wicked witch. The boy Photogen, who has never seen the moon, meets the girl Nycteris, who has never seen the sun. Together they must escape from the witch Watho. As usual, the author George MacDonald takes the listener on a voyage going far deeper than the story in itself...

Bad narration choices

Choose a different edition!!!! The story might be interesting. But this version was very poorly edited. At the beginning and end of every single short chapter, the narrator announces” the day boy and the night girl, the romance of Photogen and Nictoris ” by George MacDonald, section 1, chapter 7…. “ or “ end of section 1, chapter 7” It might be a good story but it is incredibly annoying for kids to listen to these section announcements. Why??? This should have been edited out.
