It's Time to Do a Dating 180

Face it, your attitudes about marriage and the path to marriage are probably wrong. Some you've inherited, some you've simply bought - hook, line, and sinker - and some you've made up yourself. They have translated into bad action (or no action) in dating and relationships. But it's not too late; you can break the cycle of dating dysfunction and learn to honor marriage, marry well, and live intentionally while you wait. As a single still walking out her own story, Lisa proves it's possible. The Dating Manifesto is neither a cheesy formula for finding a spouse nor a feel-good book about how the person for you is "out there" if you only "believe." Instead it's a challenge to wise up, own your issues, and chart a bold new course for your relationship future.

The narrator is a distraction

The book is good, and offers a lot of interesting and helpful insight the narrator, however, is awful. She over acts the reading. It distracts from the book and comes off as a bad theater monologue.

Churches Take Heed

I really enjoyed this book, especially chapter 13. One of the fellow singles at church will be meeting with our pastor regarding restarting our singles ministry, and I strongly suggested her listening to chapter 13 as a means to identify our needs as a group. I am also pretty impressed that I got through this book in just a couple of days by listening in the car and periodically while at work. I was able to capture a lot of information amidst my school work, duties at work and additional leisure reading.

New perspectives

What made the experience of listening to The Dating Manifesto the most enjoyable?

The author obviously took her time to really think of experiences she herself has had that lend to the story. if you found yourself wondering if what she was saying is truly applicable then she would add a story in which her experience was shown to be true.

What did you like best about this story?

It was an easy to understand and flowing read where I didn't feel like I was being lectured but I felt like I was getting advice. I also didn't feel like this book was telling me how where and when to get married as much as it was giving young adults advice on their dating life and helping explain all different situations on why one relationship may or may not have worked out.

Which scene was your favorite?

The chapter about the 5 reasons you're not in love. TRUTH.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Theres not a ONE for everyone.

Any additional comments?

I read this book after a bad breakup thinking it would help me understand how to get into a more healthy future relationship. instead I came out understanding more about myself and other people and getting a new perspective on being single and on my future dating. You don't have to be a christian to enjoy this book either. There are underlying tones of religion but the main point to the book gets across without all the religious talk. REALLY recommend for anyone in their 20's or 30's single, in a relationship, happy or sad with either one.

Encouraging book about dating with a Christian perspective

I enjoyed hearing the audiobook format for this book. I would recommend this book for both men and women who are looking to get a different perspective on dating and singleness in the church. Lisa Anderson has a lot of wisdom rooted in her personal life and experiences through the boundless ministry.

Loved Lisa's modern and direct approach to Biblical marriage and the path to getting there!

Such a sweet book, full of honesty and blunt reality. I loved the way Lisa challenged both the men and women to think about marriage now, and to be proactive in their dating lives. So much more than a how-to book, she shared practical steps to take to start dating biblically and to fixing our eyes on God's plans. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

A must read for any Christian who is single or knows someone single

Anderson gives a direct definition to dating as a Christian, outlines strategies for success and how to cope with failures, advice for the standards you should set, and more. As a single Christian, this book was life changing. A lot of this book reiterated things I knew and haven’t heard for awhile, introduced me to a breadth of ideas, and instilled a new confidence in my dating endeavors. It also suggested things that should be changed as a church by leaders, elders, and church members who are married, to help single Christians in their path to marriage.

Great book!

This is very practical advice on how you’re thinking about dating and relationships. It’s realistic and not only includes things to “look out for” as well as self development. There is so much great information, I can tell I’ll need to go through this more then once. Definitely worth the cost in time and money.

Perfect Timing

I came across this book during the perfect time in my life. As someone in her late 20's that wants to be married and have kids in the near future, this was very much needed. Apart from being funny this book is honest. I loved it and will be recommending it to others. I will be listening to this book again to catch anything I may have missed.
If dating is in your future or marriage is on your mind....This is a must read.

Great on Audible Books!

I’ve been meaning to read this book to support Lisa Anderson. When I was presented the opportunity to do a free trial of Audible books, I was excited to choose this book! It was nice and easy to follow, I can multi-task and listen at the same time—which I love.

When I was on the plane for a trip, I could close my eyes and still be listening. 😊

Even though I’m past the young adults stage, these concepts are still good to know and a good reminder.

Modern and biblical

The audio is well voiced. The content is very matter of fact and relatable. It points out how to approach dating with a biblical God honoring mindset.
