Frank Muller is the voice of Roland.

Where does The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very High, dark tower series started me off on Audio books & the late Frank Muller is my favourite narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Roland, tough gunslinger character, very similar to David Gemmells Jerusalem man (aka Jon Shannow). Read superbly by Muller. Even Stephen King said he would listen to Mullers reading to get in the atmosphere to write the next dark tower novel.

Have you listened to any of Frank Muller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to many of his performances and all are good, but in my opinion this is his best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just love the world and characters he has created, so strange & disturbing. Have read and listened to the whole series, and without a doubt prefer listening because Muller takes you right into the world with his powerful performance.

Outstanding!

The narrator does supreme justice to this intriguing, masterfully crafted and truly original series. It is unusual not to bore of a narrator after 18hrs of listening and this itself is testament to the creative vocal genius of Frank Muller. The uniqueness of each character is delivered with uncanny consistency and utterly plausible designer voice.
I would thoroughly recommend this entire series.

Great

a harder one to get through than Drawing of the Three - simply not as much of a page turner for me past the first third - but still a great book.

Not wasted

Such a lot is answered in this story and such a lot remains. Who would have thought of psychotic machinery but Stephen King. By far The Dark Tower is his finest epic work and I look forward to reading the next instalment.

Amazing

Great book, the characters are brilliantly written and act realistically as opposed to a Hollywood hero. I'm hooked.
The only issue is a strange delay on the voice that you can hear in gaps.

Brings it all together

This, the third book in the Dark Tower saga, really brings the ka-tet together and sets them on their path. It has some very dark concepts and unpleasant sections both because it deals with negative emotions, war, assault, abandonment etc and also because it shows weaknesses in each of the characters. It ends on a heck of a 'To be Continued' which feels quite frankly cheap, but I'm one of the fortunate ones that had the next book loaded and ready to go !!!

Wanted to Stop but Could Not

Frank Muller seemed to take perverse pleasure in extending each horrific second and left me breathless. Fabulous, thoughtful narration.

The characters are more 3 dimensional with each becoming more aware of their roll in the quest. This book in the series is a page turner with plots and scenarios evolving and a cliffhanger ending.

Ok.. Now I love this Narrator

Well, I reviewed book 2 and was at that point a bit peeved that the Narrator had changed from Book one. I thought it was the narrator I didnt like, but I was wrong - it was infact my pet hate that narrator changed in a book series and nothing else. I find that I now love this narrator and cant imagine the characters having been any other way. A bit of google searching reveals that unfortunately Frank Muller was unable to complete this series after being in an accident and that is the reason for the alternating narrators. Both are excellent, I am sure it will jar again when Frank Muller is no longer reading but I am sure it will become as enjoyable again very shortly afterwards. I am very glad that book one has the "new" narrator as I will have heard his voice already when the change comes again. The Story is utterly superb as is the narration, I had no idea that I was listening to and giving a bad review of a narrator who was considered amongst the best, after many hours listening to this Narrator I can now see why he was chosen to read these books and it is a real shame that he has since passed away and will never complete the set.

Excellent

Loved it, audible have brought Roland's world to life once again. Stephen King is truly a master story teller and Frank Muller has such a dynamic and complementary reading style that between them they weave a magical spell that enthralls and captivates from beginning to end.

Temper your excitement Mr Muller. Get on with the story Mr King.

The story continues in the same vein. Bouts of plodding narrative interspersed with striking imagery and genuinely terrifying moments. Can’t say I’ve warmed to any of the characters yet - even Roland - but I’m sure I will by the end.
My major problem with this was the excessively dramatic narration. Every sentence is read like it’s the last line of the Book of Revelations. It’s terribly annoying and would put me off diving into the next instalment until enough time has passed that I’ve forgotten how bad it is. It’s not that Mr Muller is not a talented actor, he clearly is, his change of tone for the various characters (male and female) is excellent, it’s his belief that every line should end in an exclamation mark (even the bloody chapter numbers) that gets so far up my nose it makes the top of my head hurt. If this is done for an American audience it’s rather insulting to their intelligence - but then again, a good deal of Americans decided it was smart to make Trump their president. Temper your excitement Mr Muller and get on with the story Mr King.

A wild ride

A fantastic romp performed impeccably.
Like part two I often struggled to keep up with the rapidly advancing and wildly original plot; this is however both a negative and positive.
