Publisher's summary

Michael returns to fulfill a promise to his love, but the world isn't the same place.

Michael, the Archangel himself, has returned after 150 years rejuvenating in the Etheric Dimension.

Now, the most powerful male vampire the world had ever known is back.

The problem? The world went through an apocalypse, and what little honor and justice that previously existed is gone. Further, his love has left to the stars somewhere, fighting for those on Earth.

Now, Michael has to figure out where he is, where he needs to go, help those who need help, and figure out how to follow in his love's path. Because if there is one thing that honor demands, it is that he make good on his promise to Bethany Anne.

Those feeding themselves on the backs of others have very little time to realize an important fact.

This Dark Messiah has little compunction about killing.

As noted in other series set in the Kurtherian Universe, there is cursing in this book, occasionally, it's funny, too.

Awesome

I haven't been paying attention since the end of the TQB series. I was super happy to find these 4 books about Michael's return. This first book really sets the stage, lots of action and righteous ass kicking. Looking forward to the next book.

Wow Finally!!!

I’m going to be so mad if Michael and Bethany Ann don’t find each other!!! Besides that this was a great book I love how Michaels Honor and promise are portrayed and the true emotional good and bad are brought together!!! I wish the author did a better job on Michaels voice and other really needs work with all the characters!!!

great story, iffy on the narrator

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I wouldn't say the book was not for me. I am a fan of audiobooks and beyond the story, the narrator brings a lot to the story. But I still loved the story, enough, I can forgive the narrator some.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Character? maybe Characters is the right word.

What didn’t you like about Chris Abernathy’s performance?

he has a great voice, but not enough range to accommodate the female parts, imo. And a lot of the parts sound the same.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

hope?

Any additional comments?

keep them coming.

Great, but...

Michael, thank you for another great book. Can't wait to dive right into the rest of this new, for me, side series.
Chris, please understand that you did a great job, but I have to compare you to such stars as Scott Brick and Emily, who is the one that I got used to narrating Michael's books.
Looking forward to the next book in The Second Dark Ages. Keep them coming.

Narrator is so bad hes bringing down a good story

What did you love best about The Dark Messiah?

MA is a great writer and I love the main story this side story is almost as good.

How could the performance have been better?

The inconstant performance is astounding. At times it isn't so bad but the voice for Michael is ... bad most of the time and unintelligible at others. Oh and a big pet peev of mine is Jean Dukes is FEMALE, he keeps saying John or pronouncing it like "Jean Claude Van Damme" so he couldn't of ever read or listened to the main series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Irritation at narrator couldn't even finish the book

Any additional comments?

Read the book since it's good but skip the Audiobook.
