Publisher's Summary

Michael returns to fulfill a promise to his love, but the world isn't the same place.

Michael, the Archangel himself, has returned after 150 years rejuvenating in the Etheric Dimension.

Now, the most powerful male vampire the world had ever known is back.

The problem? The world went through an apocalypse, and what little honor and justice that previously existed is gone. Further, his love has left to the stars somewhere, fighting for those on Earth.

Now, Michael has to figure out where he is, where he needs to go, help those who need help, and figure out how to follow in his love's path. Because if there is one thing that honor demands, it is that he make good on his promise to Bethany Anne.

Those feeding themselves on the backs of others have very little time to realize an important fact.

This Dark Messiah has little compunction about killing.

As noted in other series set in the Kurtherian Universe, there is cursing in this book, occasionally, it's funny, too.

Narrator is so bad hes bringing down a good story

What did you love best about The Dark Messiah?

MA is a great writer and I love the main story this side story is almost as good.

How could the performance have been better?

The inconstant performance is astounding. At times it isn't so bad but the voice for Michael is ... bad most of the time and unintelligible at others. Oh and a big pet peev of mine is Jean Dukes is FEMALE, he keeps saying John or pronouncing it like "Jean Claude Van Damme" so he couldn't of ever read or listened to the main series.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Irritation at narrator couldn't even finish the book

Any additional comments?

Read the book since it's good but skip the Audiobook.

great story, iffy on the narrator

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I wouldn't say the book was not for me. I am a fan of audiobooks and beyond the story, the narrator brings a lot to the story. But I still loved the story, enough, I can forgive the narrator some.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Character? maybe Characters is the right word.

What didn’t you like about Chris Abernathy’s performance?

he has a great voice, but not enough range to accommodate the female parts, imo. And a lot of the parts sound the same.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

hope?

Any additional comments?

keep them coming.

He's baaaack!!!

Not going to lie, I wanted to fight Mr. Anderle when he took Michael from us, but he has redeemed himself! I have already read this series on Kindle but loved it so much I wanted the audible version as well. If that isn't a recommendation, I don't know what to tell you. I love our Dark Messiah!!!

Great, but...

Michael, thank you for another great book. Can't wait to dive right into the rest of this new, for me, side series.
Chris, please understand that you did a great job, but I have to compare you to such stars as Scott Brick and Emily, who is the one that I got used to narrating Michael's books.
Looking forward to the next book in The Second Dark Ages. Keep them coming.

Missing essential elements

This story can be summaried as “Super powerful vampires kills wimpy bad guys”. There isn’t and character arc - none of the character evolve throught the storytelling. There isn’t any real excitement because you know that super powerful vampire is never in any real danger. The setting isn’t interesting enough to draw you in and want to learn more of - it doesn’t make you think “I wonder what it would be like to live in such a world” It didn’t even really have a climax or proper ending...... or maybe it did and I just quit before it was over. Either way, I would advise passing on this one

Loved it!

I have been waiting for a long time for Michael to be back! The story did not disappoint. Michael is fierce, loyal, and his unwavering sense of honor is still present even after being gone for 150 years! His rag tag crew are interesting characters with complex pasts! The fight scenes are enthralling and satisfying. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

I know the reader tried his best

The story is great. Chris just read the book he definitely is not into the book. But I love this series well enough to over look Chris' lack of enthusiasm. Michael Anderle what were you thinking????

A great book, great listen

It's great go see Michael back and dishing out pain and death to those who deserve it. The book it self is full of action, another book I listened to from start to finish. The narrator did a great job maintaining the quality of the character's and the over all atmosphere. looking forward to listening to the next one, probably tommow.

Great

I received a free code and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Michael the Archangel is back after 150 years in the Etheric.

While he was gone the world went through an apocalypse and Bethany Anne has gone into space to try and save earth.
Michael now has to figure out where he is and who needs his help whilst he’s trying to get back to BA.
Love this new Michael his sarcasm is just brilliant.

terrible narrator

totally ruined by an inept narrator, I do wonder why these people are used when they just can't handle a range of voices

Michael is BACK

BA's bad arsed lover has returned and those that don't follow BA's creed better dig a deep hole and hide. Whats not to like . the Authors and narrator are excellent . . . its pure escapism at its best . . . enjoy
