Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author and influential pastor Chris Hodges uses the wisdom of the book of Daniel to show Christians how to stand firm in their biblical beliefs while still loving people vastly different from them in attitudes and lifestyles.

Christians face a major dilemma today. How can they not only stay engaged with the shifting and increasingly ungodly culture around them but also influence it for good? Is there a way to love people with significantly different attitudes and lifestyles without compromising biblical beliefs? From breakfast tables to boardrooms to Bible studies, Christians are wrestling with these questions today on issues such as politics, gender identity, and the nature of marriage.

Pastor Chris Hodges points listeners to the book of Daniel for timely answers and shows how one man with a heart faithful to God remained firm in his faith without yielding to the pagan culture around him or becoming rude, insulting, or mad. Daniel kept God's standards high and his grace deep - just as Jesus did. Just as we're called to do when culture shifts.

Challenging

Not only was this work well performed, it hit the nail on the head concerning a Christian's attitude and behavior in a fallen world. i highly recommend the book.

Great book on living for Christ no matter what!

It's been awhile since I've taken notes while a book is playing, so I thank you Mr. Hodges for igniting my faith again! This book gave me more direction on how to live in this world despite the allure it has to make us stray so easily. Really makes you evaluate different areas of your life to see if you're really living for God or slipping more and more into this world. Only thing I wish it had was a few more real life examples of how to talk with those that aren't living for God-I enjoyed the examples there were, but more would have been helpful...but still an AWESOME book that I would highly recommend! ☺

Another great book by Hodges

I admit that I am a fan of Chris Hodges and the amazing movement he is leading with Church of the Highlands, the Association of Related Churches, and the Grow Network. I believe this book takes his talents to another level though as he walks the reader through the book of Daniel and unveils how he navigated through culture and continued to stand firm and love well in his turbulent times. I love how Chris approaches each topic with grace and personal conviction without sacrificing either to get his point across. I fully recommend this for any Christian, Pastor, or church leader who is looking for ancient wisdom to guide them through today.

Very Timely Book for Today's Christian

This book came along at the right time. Using the story of Daniel's life was the perfect reminder to be strong in a world where the world culture influences everything.

The narrator was lively and kept the book flowing.

How to Love Well

A great book on how to stand firm and show love to everyone. A great book for Chritians at any stage of their walk with God. Somthing that stood out to me was "Truth without grace is mean but Grace without truth is meaningless".

Great overall message

Had some hiccups and things that don't line up with scripture, but all together worth the read. The first half is more basic (milk) second half is the meat. This book reads very well and simple, I'd suggest it to a newer Christian familiar with the book of Daniel and the New Testament.

OUTSTANDING

This book is so right on. He is relevant, compassionate, urgent and persuasive. This book would be a good book to complement Beth Moore's study on Babylon. Too many Christians have become lukewarm in their faith and have allowed the world to transform them. It's time for Christians to rise up and be the church that Christ called us to be.
