Story
When her husband left her pregnant, with a four-year-old child and a restaurant on the verge of bankruptcy, the only things Holly McGinty had time for were her kids - and working hard to stay out of the poor house. Five years later, business is booming and her boys are happy, but she's still putting her own needs at the bottom of her priority list. That doesn't stop her from daydreaming about her oldest son's sexy scout leader, though.

Publisher's Summary
She never imagined she'd be widowed before the honeymoon was over.
After being raised in the foster care system, meeting and marrying the love of her life was a dream come true for Jess Bentley. For the first time in her memory, she would have a family of her own. But the dream turns into a nightmare when a drug-crazed thief shoots and kills her husband, leaving Jess alone again, trapped in the depths of despair, and struggling to find a reason to go on.
Knowing he could have prevented the tragedy, there's nothing he won't do to make it right.
Weighed down by guilt, Dan Mulholland is desperate to find a way to make life easier for the widow of the man his brother murdered. When he learns that she's pregnant, and that her father-in-law is threatening to take the child from her, there seems to be only one course of action. Marry her and adopt the baby.

Emotional Rollercoaster With Heartwarming Moments
The author did a great job writing this book. It was a gripping story. I felt so many emotions while reading this story. It's a slow building romance after a very tragic event that brought together two people in the most unlikely way.
The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. The story starts in a very difficult moment in Jess life. She had just gotten married and her husband was killed before their honeymoon was even finished. She is alone with thoughts of vengeance and when she is unable go after the man that murder her husband she decides to take matters into her own hands and perhaps end her own life.
Dan feels responsible for his brother's actions. He had tried to reach out for money but Dan shut him down because he knew it was to buy drugs.
The book has a HEA conclusion. Two unlikely people come together after a terrible tragedy and fall in love with each other.
Dan is such a sweetheart I couldn't help but fall in love with him as well. So many obstacles stand on their way and he does what he can to help Jess.

A 7 Star Story
To begin with the perfect narrator for this story is the least I can say. Jess, Emmy, Dan, Emmy's husband, Dan's friends and Dan's family all make this a lively, complex, and wonderful story. I loved Coach because he instilled life long ethics in his boys.
Dan just wants to help Jess who's husband was killed on the last night of their honeymoon by Dan's drug crazed brother. What follows is a story of redemption, tragedy, love, and happiness, as well as forgiveness. Worth the credit.

Dan and Jess
One of my very favorites by Kristy. It's the perfect introduction to this wonderful series and all of the Coach's boys. Dan is a wonderful hero. His kindness and concern for others is a real attribute of his personality. I especially loved his protectiveness of Jess and the baby. Jess is a sweet heroine. She's gone from a tiny core of family to being part of this circle of men who see themselves as five brothers of the heart.
Highly recommended author and series

I think this is a time where the narration simply does not work for me or the characters.
The story line seems to be good, but the narration isn’t quite right. It seems like the characters are quite younger, than the main narrator, which I was willing to overlook in this case, but at a certain part the narrator made the female character Jess seem melodramatic.
Overall, the narration isn’t for me, and kind of affects the story.

"Interestingly, Interesting"
I somehow listened to Book 2 of; "The Coach's Boys," before I learned it was part of a Series, so I when back and found this Book, "The Daddy Pact" which is #1.
I wanted to know all the key characters, their relationships to each other, to the Coach and make it easier to follow along in future books in the series. Well, I'm glad I did because there were answers to many questions I had but I still don't understand how the title of this book works in with the storyline?
I gotta admit, I was pretty sure Dan and Jess would found their way to working it out. I didn't feel her ex-father-in-law was going to be a real threat if it was a girl. The love the couple had for the baby, meant LOVE for each other was around the corner...❤👼❤
I was more interested in the, "WHO SHOT THE COACH?" And, "WHY WAS HE SHOT?"
I'm not saying Ms. James wrote a bad book. Many novels can be successful with Mysteries, Suspense and Romance. It's about how you bring it all together; construct it, and how your readers/listeners receive it. I just didn't find myself that into it as I am with most Romance books.
I still find the narrator Daniela Acitelli, did an Awesome Job with her Visual Storytelling and in her Characters Voice Tones. I still plan on listening to Book 3 and the rest of the Series; if for nothing to find out, "Who Shot the Coach?"

Cute, predictable story with a HEA
The Daddy Pact, Book 1 of The Coach's Boys series by Kristy K. James is a cute, easy listen. Jess' husband, whom she hasn't known for more than a few months, is murdered right before her eyes. Then she finds out that she's pregnant. Oh, and the killers brother, Dan, feels a huge sense of responsibility to Jess and her unborn child, since it was his brother that killed her husband. Bring in a complete jerk of a father-in-law and you end up with an unlikely "marriage" between Jess and Dan.
This is a cute enough story, though I found it a bit predictable and I had trouble really caring about the characters, which I'm sure kept me from fully enjoying the novel. It does have an HEA, so if you're looking for an easy listen with a HEA, you may enjoy this one!
Daniela Acitelli did a good job narrating this story. I found her enjoyable to listen to and I'd definitely listen to more of her performances in the future. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

An Interesting Proposal.
A new genre for me so not sure what to expect.
Near the beginning of the story I find the marriage proposal a bit of a strange action to take but as I progress through the chapters I really start to warm to the story and found the characters very likeable.
The narration is very clear, fun and also enjoyable to listen too while I feel enhances to story and the characters too, definitely worth reading/listening.
