These pilgrims are pious...and they’re taking no prisoners!

Since giving up the booze—bar a small hiccup here and there—ex-Ministry of Witches Detective Elise Liddell hasn’t had much call to hang out in bars. So, imagine her surprise when the generally antagonistic landlord of the Pig and Pepper calls on her for assistance. It seems Charles Lynch’s regulars are being scared away by mysterious specters. It’s hitting him where it hurts: right in the pocket.

Elise agrees to help. After all, the pub is her local, and she isn’t generally spooked by the paranormal. However, the apparitions turn out to be monks. Malevolent monks! Elise will need to rely on her friends, her wiles, and all her resources if she’s going to unravel this curiosity of a mystery!

Join Elise and her zany sidekicks—Minsk the white rabbit, the ghosts of Wizard Dodo and her partner DC Ezra Izax, Wootton the office manager, Hattie Dashery, Rich the Snitch, and ex-boss Monkton Wyld—in the fourth thrilling installment of the Wonderland Detective Agency.

Fans of Jeannie Wycherley’s best-selling Wonky Inn books—as well as lovers of urban fantasy, cozy paranormal murder mysteries, witches and wizards, and gaslamp fiction—will adore this series.

All for a cosy mystery, but it is the performance that keeps me getting the next installment of this series.

The Curious Incident at the Pig and Pepper was a thoroughly enjoyable listen! Even though I haven’t caught up on books 2 and 3 yet, the story was easy to follow and kept me intrigued from start to finish. Jeannie Wycherley delivers a well-paced mystery with just the right amount of suspense and clever twists.

Joanna Lee’s narration was a standout—her expressive delivery and character voices added depth and personality to the story. I was completely drawn in and didn’t want to stop listening.

Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a smart, entertaining mystery with great narration. I’m looking forward to catching up on the rest of the series!

Lively doesn't begin to describe this non-stop action packed mystery...and when I say mystery I mean as in you are in the middle of the ongoing investigation with murders going off around you. With Dodo, the wizard ghost knowing more than he is saying, Snitch bending over backward to help DI Lizzie, her ex partner now ghost detective - come partner in her new PI business doing the investigating surely she will be on top of this case in no time?
Entertaining, clean, witchy, ghostly fun. Narrated beautifully by Joanna Lee, this story will keep your attention no problems. Recommended well written series by Jeannie Wycherley.

Gleeful Goblin Review: As someone who grew up religious fundie AND who's parents were in Amway all my life it's fair to say I have a fascination/horror relationship with #TrueCrime. This book reads as a magical thriller/mystery with Elise getting pulled into the seedy underbelly of a group that could be straight out of a Hulu or Netflix documentary. The surface is all cheerful minimalist, devoting yourself to simplicity, etc. They even have dorms because all of the Children "share everything" and are encouraged to give things up "voluntarily" like speaking, sleeping, skipping already scant meals, comfortable/warm clothing, on and on. Truly classic 60 Minutes Special Report behaviors.

The book still has plenty of amazing magical elements, good character development, and the story isn't total grim dark by any means. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it! 5/5 Stars
