Publisher's Summary

Explore the captivating history of the Culper Ring!

Spying and warfare have always gone hand-in-hand. From Julius Caesar to modern generals, we have accounts of commanders covertly gathering information about their opponents, ensuring they have the intelligence they need to conduct a war.

George Washington was not late to realize he needed a spy ring to defeat the British in the American Revolution. So, the Culper Ring was created, and their work during the American Revolutionary War was carried out in the shadows, often informally, and with a great deal of care for secrecy. Anyone caught spying was liable to be hanged by the British.

Based in New York during the British occupation, the Culper Ring provided vital intelligence from behind enemy lines. Their work gave Washington an insight into the British forces and their plans. They helped to turn the war in the revolutionaries' favor. And now, their story can be told once more.

Some of the topics covered in this book include:

  • Before the Culper Ring
  • The Birth of the Culper Ring
  • Teething Troubles
  • Rearrangement
  • The Culper Ring at Work
  • The View from the Other Side
  • After Arnold
  • Dying Days
  • And a great deal more that you don't want to miss out on!

Good book. I'm still listening to it, but so far it is good and very intriguing. It is not a personable book, more of an informative book, but I have really enjoyed it.

Powerful book.

Any additional comments?

Much better than the mini-series based on the book. Here the author was able to explain in greater detail what the ring went through to provide the info Washington needed.

Enjoyable and interesting listening, just not really enough material for a book. More character development would have been nice, but I imagine there isn't tons of source material

the culper ring

While the information is well organized, the book reads as a quick summary of events, people, and places involved. Great if you are looking for a basic understanding of the Culled Ring. I would have enjoyed more details into events and the people

The Culper Ring

Any additional comments?

I have always thought the Revolutionary War was one of the least represented eras of our history and I am glad this was written and proven to be popular. The book is well done, history fleshed out, and every American with an interest in how their nation was born should read this.
