When microbiologist Sonny Evans is invited to join a cutting-edge research mission in Antarctica, it feels like the opportunity of a lifetime. The team’s goal: drill into Earth’s oldest ice and unlock secrets frozen for millions of years.
What they uncover should have stayed buried.
The mission takes a dark turn when a team member collapses—blinded by something no one can explain. The crew returns home, only to watch a mysterious new contagion sweep across the globe.
As cities fall and nations unravel, Sonny joins forces with Harper Sturgis, a gifted but untested biochemist caught in the outbreak’s crosshairs. Together, they race to stop the invisible enemy before it’s too late.
But the pathogen isn’t just spreading. It’s evolving. And they unleashed it.
Now, haunted by guilt and driven by love, Sonny and Harper must stop the extinction-level threat before it wipes out the people they love—and the rest of humankind with them.
Perfect for fans of The Andromeda Strain, Contagion, and The Atlantis Gene, The Cryspora Event is a pulse-pounding scientific thriller about discovery, survival, and the deadly consequences of uncovering what nature meant to keep hidden.
Instead, it wandered off to yell at clouds for a few hours. It went from a really great plague thriller to some conspiracy theorist antivax rant. This guy's editor should be fired, assuming he has one.
As always, the robot narrator is jarring and annoying and should be banished.
It's still probably worth a free background listen if you have a hankering for Outbreak type stories and can tolerate robot narrators, but don't spend money or a credit on it
