Publisher's summary

When the aristocratic Vishov family is banished from their native Ustalav due to underhanded politics, they're faced with a choice: fade slowly into obscurity or strike out for the nearby River Kingdoms and establish a new holding on the untamed frontier. For Lady Tyressa Vishov, the decision is simple. Together with her children and loyal retainers, she'll forge a new life in the infamous Echo Wood, and neither bloodthirsty monsters nor local despots will stop her from reclaiming her family honor. Yet the shadow of Ustalavic politics is long, and even in a remote and lawless territory, there may be those determined to see the Vishov family fail....

Wow what a surprise!

I've read a lot of the Pathfinder Tales series. I usually find the protagonists with one book okay. This entirely blew me out of the water! I highly recommend this book!

Building a Town Before Your Eyes.

I love books on medieval towns coming to fruition as qe watch their settlers create their society from scratch. This book was all of that plus more. Golarion is an awesome world to build in. and the variation in some of the voices by the narrator were amazing.

a good fantasy adventure

Overall I enjoyed this adventure! At first I didn't really care for the accents and voices the reader was using but they grew on me as the story progressed. There were a few moments where some unexpected things did take place and they caught me somewhat by surprise I think it's one of the better Pathfinder adventure stories and I do recommend it to others. I listen to it over the course of a few days working out and it got more than a few audible laughs from me and aha moments.

My favourite of the Pathfinder tales books

This is a great take of a displaced family, and the town they wish to found. the characters and strong and well written. the story is creative and well crafted. I love that this book isn't about well seasoned heroes on a quest, but about flawed people each on their own journey within themselves and survival within the Pathfinder wilderness.

Tavia Gilbert does a superb job of reading the narrative and playing the characters. it's easy to know who's speaking and the added layer of emotional depth she gives the characters sits perfectly with the story.
