Publisher's summary

In the world of Allwyn, humans are almost extinct. A war among the gods has led to the downfall of humanity and the banishment of their god. A thousand years later, the remaining humans eke out an existence on the fringes of the vast dwarven empire.

In one such settlement known as the Cradle of the Gods, a young man named Ghile is preparing for Rite of Attrition, used by the dwarves to seek out potential vessels for their insane god's return. Meanwhile, Almoriz the Sorcerer and his apprentice Riff arrive in Ghile's village for one of their annual visits, beginning a series of events that will change Ghile's life forever. He is marked as the Stonechosen, and wields powers of the gods themselves.

But Ghile is not alone. Others chosen to fulfill the prophecy are also traveling to the Cradle to seek out and destroy him. The time of the Stonechosen has come.

Just Good Fantasy

Where does The Cradle of the Gods rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audiobook is actually my very first. It was a really good experience that has encouraged me to seek out more audiobooks.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Cradle of the Gods?

I really enjoyed the whole of it, the combination of the writing and the soothing narration made it overall, memorable.

Which character – as performed by Guy Bethell – was your favorite?

Mother Brambles, the elderly druid. It was amusing to me because it was a very similar voice to the elderly sorcerer.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did for the most part. Having read the book physically, it's fairly short and clocking in at 6hrs, it was comfortable for me to listen to during a work shift.

Any additional comments?

The only reason I didn't give Guy Bethell a 5 for performance was the similarity between two characters' voices. To some it may be confusing, but I think that the book is an excellent choice for anyone.

Ok, next book to really set the tone

Any additional comments?

Ok book to listen to. Its a bit short, which when compared to the price, makes this less than a value. However, the writing is fairly clean, and the story has some interesting tidbits to keep you going. It does feel like its made for the young adult however, and the characters are half a step from being 3D. I am nit picking though, and it was an enjoyable listen. Normally, I would say this is/is not worth a credit, but, due to the length of the book, I am stuck on the line. I hope the second book in the series grows things a little, but it really could go either way.

One of my new favorite series!

Cradle of the Gods drew me in immediately.

I listened to the audio book version so it was really cool to be able to listen and just picture everything in my head. The visuals the author provided were really wonderful and I felt like I was seeing the story as I was listening. I actually think it would be super cool as a film as well.

The narrative was extremely cohesive. The world the author created was so extraordinarily intricate, wonderfully described and creative. The characters were lovable, diverse and had such interesting personalities.

The plot was unique and unpredictable, at times I couldn't put it down because I just had to see what came next. I have already started book 2. I can't wait to see what happens!

A decent fantasy story.

It's difficult to be completely original in this day and age but this book manages to be fresh enough. It's a bit short and had room to be fleshed out more but the characters are engaging and the reader is easy to listen to.
