Spoiler free review

this was another fun story in the series. Jay Dyess does such a great job narrating all the books in the series. he's great with the little added touches that make the book so enjoyable to listen to. I read this one first, but it's almost like hearing it for the first time

Love the Cinderella feel

Reading a fairy tale - listening to a fairy tale. They are both lovely! I love how Dyess can make so many characters - and personalities - come alive.

This book has elements of Cinderella in it. I really loved Nell’s heart and smile and choice to be happy and gracious. I think it’s something sorely lacking in our world today. I also liked Ryder and his reasonings and how things came along as he worked through his thoughts and feelings. I was excited to be introduced to a couple characters that we’ll see in upcoming books.

Sweet, clean and swoon worthy

This is a farm girl version of Cinderella. Ryder and Nell are so opposite, but opposites attract, right? There are some swoon worthy moments, as well as serious obstacles, will they get their HEA?? Can a billionaire businessman really become a rancher, or a North Dakota farm girl become a NY socialite? This is a must read to find out.

Jay Dyess does a great job as a narrator.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my personal, unbiased oppinion of this book.

A Modern Western Cinderella Retelling

Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook. I have never been big into fairy tales (Snow White, Cinderella, etc) however, I did like the description of this story. The beginning was a bit too Cinderella (complete with evil step sisters) for my taste and I felt the main female character was very weak (although the reason for this was somewhat explained later in the book--making it a little understandable--although I kept wanting her to get more of a backbone early in the book). However, as the book progressed, this Cinderella retelling took on it's own unique storyline and I ended up really enjoying the book by the end. The narrator is wonderful with a very smooth but a little rough quality at the same time. He really made the story come to life. I will look to listen/read other stories of this series. I received a copy of the audiobook for free from the author at my request and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

Another great story by Jessie Gussman

This book was well written with an interesting story line and likable, well developed characters. The audio was well done by the narrator. I really enjoyed reading this book - there was only one draw back for me. Some of the language. Now, this story was clean with no cuss words, per se, but there were what I would consider questionable words in the story. This might not bother some people, but if this were the first book I had read by Jessie Gussman, I probably wouldn't read any more. I have read several of her titles and thoroughly enjoyed them all and have not seen any issues with language in the other titles I have read. There was enough in this book that I felt they were worth mentioning. Otherwise, this was a great, clean read.

Choose Happiness! Choose This Book!

I loved the message and the sweet fairytale retelling of Nell, a woman who believes that we can all choose happiness, just like Paul and Silas did (Acts 16:25), even when we are sad and mistreated.
This happiness calls to Ryder, who sees the true beauty of this Cinderella in green sockhat (beanie, toboggan, knitted cap, whatever you call it). Will his reluctance to give up the life he’s always known prevent him from letting go of his control and choosing happiness for himself?

Clean Cowboy Fairy Tale Retelling

Story: 5 stars

I love fairy tale retellings and this one is wonderful! It follows the bones of the story but does its own thing as well.

Nell is so good that it is almost unbelievable, until you know her motivations. The self-control she practices then goes from unbelievable to downright admirable. And, boy, does she get chances to practice!

Ryder is the person who really undergoes personal growth and a change of values. It’s a slow change, but a good one. He goes from valuing money and business to valuing people and relationships. Nell’s gentle ways and goofy banter help him to become less jaded.

The shoes are a whimsical addition and I liked the slight magical element, very understated, but still there.

It’s a pretty good stand-alone, but would be better if you read the series in order as there are interactions with characters from former books.

Narrator: 4.5 stars

Jay Dyess has read all of these books and I look forward to each new one he reads. He does some cool effects to make people's voices sound tinny when they are on the phone and at another pointe to make Nell's voice sound like it's echoing over a microphone. This attention to detail is amazing! My only complaint, and it is really pretty irrelevant, is that he doesn't give Ryder or Roxie NY accents, or at least non-cowboy-sounding accents. Other than that, I think Mr. Dyess is one of the best narrators I've listened to (and I've listened to a lot of narrators!)

Beautiful, Cinderella style, fairy tale romance.

I loved this and I have no hesitation in recommending it!
As always Jay Dyess has brilliantly brought this story and these characters to life.
I don't want to give spoilers for this audiobook. I want to give listeners the chance to immerse themselves in a beautifully written, expertly narrated Cinderella romance.
