Publisher's Summary

It was supposed to be simple. Marry the tall Texan. Her children get a father. They save the ranch. A business transaction, nothing more. She definitely wasn’t going to fall in love. After her husband ran off with her little sister, she was no longer susceptible to cowboy charm.

Except, the North Dakota girl had never met a Texas cowboy. He married her for the ranch. A former champion bull rider needs a spread to call home, even if it is in North Dakota. Even if it comes with four little kids. And a big, black, slobbering dog. Especially if it comes with a woman with enough sweetness and enough toughness to rope his heart and heal it.

The cowboy’s not afraid of anything, except losing his heart again.

Finding love

I really liked how even getting married for money both agreed that they were in for the long haul. The way they worked thru problems to keep the ranch when the money was not received showed strength of character. Love grew and both was afraid to tell the other. The voice of Mr. D was very soothing

Show me the money

Of all the books in this series by Jessie Gussman, I think this one is my favorite simply because, after being told they would NOT be getting the billion dollars they were counting on when they made the agreement to get married, they decided to try to make a go of it anyway. This is what a true marriage should look like.

I listened to this on Audible and I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Jay Dyess.

Cowboy's Convenient Marriage

The voice of the narrator did not match the character's nor the story line. The voice sounded too old for the characters being portrayed. I felt the story line was weak...

Heart tugging

It’s amazing to me that even though I read this series earlier this year, I am so much enjoying listening to them! I really thing this one hit the heart even harder through audio.

Story:
I really enjoyed Rem and Elaine’s story. They both were overcoming heartache and choosing a difficult path. I especially liked the emphasis on the children. I’m excited to read the next book!

Can’t stop binge listening to this one!!

First, this is the 5th story in the Sweet Water Ranch series, and it is quite a series. Each story is my very favorite while I am listening BUT, this story is my favorite, favorite; probably because I’m a southerner and I love the drawl of the main mail character that Mr. Dyess puts forth. His voice characterizations are very good. I almost always prefer a male voice reading the books.

Ms. Gussman has written an excellent collection of stories and it is fun to have main characters from other stories in the series, drift through at certain points of interest. Also, listening/reading them “out of order” does not detract from the flow. If you read story 10 first, it does not detract from any other story. All of the stories grab me and pull me into them!

I REALLY, REALLY hope that the most recently printed books from this story series will be available on Audible sooner than soon… HINT HINT HINT!!!

Story Perfection

This is one of my favorite Jessie Gussman novels, and hearing it narrated by Jay Dyess is like frosting on an exquisite cake.

Gussman writes the best love stories. She has a knack for describing scenes and character nuances that bring the story to life and stir similar emotions in her readers.

Dyess brings Gussman’s stories to life. I loved the Texas drawl of the MMC, and the gleeful voices of the MFC’s children. Dyess has a way of pulling his listeners into the story without drawing undue attention to himself and distracting from the experience. It’s like he becomes the story.
