Story
Duke Evans didn’t expect to find a beautiful woman in a staring contest with a bison on his favorite hiking trail. He also didn’t expect to see her again after rescuing her from the surly beast. As the sheriff in Calamity, Montana, he’s had his fair share of surprises but none as pleasant as pulling over a shiny black car and finding his mysterious hiking companion behind the wheel. Only she lied to Duke. She gave him a name as fake as her hair color.

Football star. Single dad. And once, a long time ago, mine. I’ve spent the better part of a decade forgetting Ford Ellis. If he had just stayed away from Montana, I might have erased the memory of his striking blue eyes and rugged smile forever. Avoiding him was easy when the only place I saw his face was on ESPN—and a remote control could fix that problem.

4 The Coppersmith Farmhouse Stars
Ahhh I love a small town romance, Gigi is a woman I can stand behind. She is strong of will and of heart; she makes me proud to be a woman. Yep I said that, not only does she have to deal with a lot in her past but she does it with grace and that is rare.
Jess well he “tried” to be a jerk and he just couldn’t pull it off; I never got the jerky vibe from him even when he was being one. I am glad Gigi finally put him in his place. She laid it out; this is not how you can treat me.
Her daughter Row is the cuties, I love when kids are added into stories it livens it up a little. I enjoyed getting to know some of the secondary characters and I am looking forward to maybe some of these characters in books to come.
I really loved Ava’s narration; she is a narrator I look forward to listening to because she puts emotion into her voice. She draws us in and makes us feel a part of the story. And Joe… well just listen to his voice enough said.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

This is a hard book for me to rate since I really didn't like the beginning but loved the middle and ending. In the very beginning I loved Gigi, She was confident and strong and then Jess comes in and takes over her life... seriously takes it over. I really didn't get why she just let him plow right over her and everything she said. I like a good bad guy and an alpha guy just as much as the next guy but in the beginning he was just an a$$hole... and she just acted like he was so pretty it was ok that he acted like that. Once they were together things started to get more normal and he was much more like an alpha good guy than a jerk. By the end of the book I loved Jess and his relationship with Gigi's daughter so much! This book is full of mystery and honestly I knew who the bad guy was right away but I still liked the way the story went. I'm really hoping for a book on Felicity, Jess's sister, she has a story and I want it now.
The narration was good. It was about 80% Ava & 20% Joe and they both did a great job.

Disappointed
The story had a lot of potential, but it dragged on far too long. Jess was a great H, but Gigi -- although she was a strong & sweet person -- was really dull, and I just didn't buy Jess' life-altering attraction to her.
Also, the way the drama at the end played out was just too ridiculous to be believable. I mean, why kidnap her, drag her from her secluded home in the woods to a busy hub of activity in town, then send your henchman back out to the woods to dig the graves while you stay with her and tell her all about your evil scheme and who was in on it with you? Also, why try to kill a first-trimester fetus first when you plan on killing the mother anyway? Entirely too stupid to be entertaining.
I think I'm so disappointed because I really wanted to love it, but between the dull heroine and the inept bad guy I just couldn't.

I finished the book but it was a struggle
The story line was good. Georgia the main female character is an idiot. Jess the main male character was a well written character. I don't see how Georgia can find her way out of a paper bag. Was not happy with the way she acted or the lack of common sense she had.

Not my cup of tea
Alpha controlling man and a woman who needs to grow a backbone. He’s too forceful and doesn’t respect her, walks all over her. Gaslighting. Story could have been good if the characters were better. Also, using “f” or “f-ing” in place of “fuck” was annoying.

Disappointed with language
The overall story was okay, just an enjoyable read. I was very disappointed that the author chose to use the "F" word frequently in casual conversation and in describing sexual relationships. It caught me off-guard. I could only listen to the book when I was alone in my car and that's a bit of inconvenience. I wish I had been warned about this aspect of the book; I doubt I would have purchased it.

Excellent
A little mystery and intrigue mixed with a little fate that brings together a hot alpha male and an independent single mom. All in all it was a really good book that kept my interest and had me listening nonstop.
I did enjoy the secondary characters but I did find there too be such an extensive list of characters that when it came down to the bad guys, I had a hard time bringing the characters to mind because there were just so many.
But other than that, I have no complaints and I think as the series goes on, my issue will become a moot point as I get to know the town better. Very much looking forward to it all.
Ava Erickson and Joe Arden are perfection for these characters and I have nothing but praises to say.

Too much profanity.
Good story and basically good writing. The
F-~~ word used so unnecessary and the use of the word “Baby” was so condescending to female character This author is a good story teller and doesn’t need to use such language
Probably want read her again unless I can find a book with less profanity. This book may appeal to rough cowboys or other men who like a good mystery.

SERIOUSLY DYSFUNCTIONAL
The relationship in this book is seriously dysfunctional. Why didn't the author simply put a collar on Gigi and provide Brick with a leash? Poorly written. No storyline. And a psycho relationship. Gigi could donate her brain, her will, her intuition, her intelligence...because Brick does it all for her, and she allows it. Oh good grief!

A great listen and I am eager for more
I admit I have been curious about Devney Perry’s books for some time, especially since her books were being touted as very Kristen Ashley-like. From my perspective, such comparisons can be a double-edged sword for new authors. Do I read it and become disillusioned that the book missed the mark? Or, do I stay away and potentially miss out on a good book?
Well, I was undecided and stayed away until I listened to an audio version of this book that I won via the author’s Facebook page. And now I am kicking myself. Yes, there are a few surface similarities to some of Kristen Ashley’s characters/settings, but The Coppersmith Farmhouse, the author’s debut novel I believe, is more than strong enough to stand on its own.
Georgia, known as Gigi, along with her young daughter, Rowan, is leaving her old life behind and heading to a small town to live in a house she inherited from Ben, a good friend. I enjoyed learning about the town and it was rewarding to listen to a character who was, dare I say it, normal. Gigi was a nurse. She has her head screwed on straight, is a thoughtful and caring person to those around her and is a good mother. There is pleasure in listening about the every day.
Jess, our hero, and the local Sheriff, is a man who keeps himself to himself. His initial dislike of Gigi is based on his erroneous belief that she fleeced Ben of his worldly goods. He makes no bones about showing his dislike of Gigi when they first meet. Once the misunderstanding is resolved, Jess turns on the alpha personality in his attempt to woo Gigi. Yes, there are some bumps along the way but both Gigi and Jess do a good job of communicating with each other to resolve them.
There is a mystery that forms part of the storyline. I am hopeless at guessing who the villains are, so I went along for the ride. I enjoyed this element of the story and it was a surprise to me who the ‘bad guys’ were.
The book contains an epilogue several years in the future. I do enjoy these because I like to read about our main characters living their happily ever after.
The Coppersmith Farmhouse is Book 1 of the Jamison Valley series. As far as I can tell, all books are standalones but some characters make appearances in other books. Don’t forget, it’s a small town.

I listened to an audio version of this book that was narrated by Ava Erickson and Joe Arden. I enjoyed listening to both narrators, although the majority of the book is narrated by Ava Erickson. Both narrators did a good job in conveying the character’s emotions. The voice of Gigi’s daughter, Rowan was an absolute delight to listen to.
I read another review that stated there was a lot of background noise during the recording. I heard none of this, so I assume it’s been cleaned up since that time.

Very sweet story
This is a very easy listen , mother and daughter move to new town where she meets the sheriff who quickly tries to take her over ... the subsequent tiffs between her and the sheriff mad me smile , didn't catch on to the little twist at all ...no spoilers , if you want an uncomplicated sweet listen then I recommend as its narrators are top draw for me .
I was lucky enough to win this from the author in a give away , Thankyou and I Will definitely be looking out for further books in the series

Disappointing hero
I did not gel with this book on the whole in any shape or form. I wanted to like it, indeed until 25% I held hope that my issues would be worked through. By 50% I realised that this was a hero that I could only hate, he could not be redeemed in my eyes in any way. He was manipulative, cunning, controlling, had temper issues that were scary and I didnt believe his connection with the heroine. The heroine gave off vibes of not being okay with his controlling ways but was always won over by a kiss or a weak willed apology....till the next time, stupid woman.
The narration was reasonably good, I enjoyed the tonation of the female narrator but I was less enamoured by the male narrator.
On the whole, I’m thinking this authors books aren’t for me. I may give another a try, unless I hear all her hero’s are such jerks.

Slow to start but worth the wait
Great book.
Took a bit to start for me, but once it did I could not stop wanting to listen to the book all the time. Recommend the book and narrator.

Got me hooked
I really enjoyed this. The narration by Ava Erickson was perfect, and I love listening to her way of telling a story. Usually, it takes a while to get into an audio, but I was comfortable from the get go and was able to really enjoy listening to The Coppersmith Farmhouse.
Although this is my first time 'reading' Devney Perry, I'm already hooked on to her style of writing and am very keen to continue this series, and read much more.
Georgia was a great lead - and while sometimes I felt like she did give into Jess a touch to easily once in a while, I was still invested in her and all the relationships created when she moves to Prescott.
While I enjoyed the to and fro of Georgia and Jess at the beginning of their relationship, where Georgia was hesitant at first, ad then doubting Jess' reasons, I did feel as though it may have been pulled out for a touch too long.
A great romance, with a touch of mystery and murder thrown in the mix (without being too heavy) and I'm looking forward to the next.
