Publisher's Summary

She never killed anybody that didn’t have it coming....

Six months before aging out of foster care, 17-year-old Tori meets a local hustler who makes her an offer she can’t refuse. At first, she enjoys the benefits of being Ricky’s “new girl,” but it’s not long before he’s looking for a return on his investment. When Tori’s first job goes horribly wrong, she finds herself more indebted to Ricky than ever.

After a confrontation with Ricky spirals out of control, Tori goes on the run. Halfway across the country, she meets Dana, a street-wise woman in a similarly desperate situation. The two become quick friends and hatch a plan to move to Reno. But sometimes those closest to you are the ones who hurt you the most, and soon Tori is on her own again - and out for revenge.

To survive in this live by the gun, die by the gun world, Tori must learn how to fend for herself. She’ll need smarts the streets could never teach her. Enter Buck, an older man in possession of a certain set of skills that could help Tori. But as life has taught her, nothing comes free, or easy. Buck will teach her his ways, but he’ll need something from her first....

In The Confessional, Ashley and JaQuavis, acclaimed authors of the New York Times best-selling Cartel series, introduce their most ruthless hero yet - a charismatic killing machine intent on purging a closet full of skeletons as the walls are closing in.

Review

I am really upset that I wasted a whole credit on this very very very very short book.
This should have been a free listen. !!
I did enjoy this short story, not even book, but I feel cheated!
You owe me a credit...

I love love love this story

This story was great from beginning to end. Definitely didn’t think it would end that way but I’m glad Tori got everything off her chest and was able to gain peace of mind. The narrators did a great job to help me envision each and every character. I’m ready for the next one.

Wow

First time using audible the voices were great. I thought it'd be boring having someone read, while I listen. It wasn't. The character switching was one point, moving from one voice to the next. Maybe I'll put audible into consideration next time for a good listen.

It's a hard knock life!!!

“The Confessional” is a trip and a half. It starts out so sad where this young lady is in the system and is taken by older people. Everything just turns sinister after a night of coming home late and entering a card game. I just can’t understand how you go from being a innocent kid, to a prostitute, and finally a murderer. This book made me flip my wig. You will encounter lonliness, love, lust, hurt, betrayl, and loyalty in this book. I was on a serious emotional rollercoaster. I just love the way it is told by interview style. Please pay attention to the conclusion of the book if you want to be thrown for a loop.

I...I don’t know

Soo did anyone else feel the sudden theme switch once the narrators changed??
The first part of the book was A1. Tori’s storyline was intriguing from the start and definitely had me on edge. It was intense and written in an insightful way, Loved it.
However what made the story that much better was narrator Nicole Small (she’s amazing) and the sudden switch to an Italian guy who didn’t necessarily match the urban/suspenseful approach in Tory’s story threw me off, all the way off.
I skipped a few chapters and was disappointed in the tragic ending.
I would have liked Tory’s point of view continued and hearer her entire side of the story. This was a great book, great idea and great author nonetheless.
