Publisher's Summary

The 5:2 fast is one of the easiest and quickest ways for you to lose weight.

It works with your body, helping you to burn fat and weight without counting all the calories. It's a diet that works around your schedule. The idea behind this diet plan is that you will pick two days during the week where you will keep your calories low, usually under 500 to 700 for the whole day.

As long as these days are not back to back, they can be any day that you would like. Pick a few days during the week when you are usually really busy and it won’t seem so bad.

For the other five days of the week, you will be able to eat regular calories. You should be careful about not going overboard, but if you eat a relatively healthy diet, even if you splurge a little bit on these other five days, you will still end up taking fewer calories thanks to those two fast days. It is that simple!

The hardest part of this diet plan, and many other diet plans, is finding the right recipes to make it work.

You want to lose weight, but if you feel deprived all the time, you will give in to the cravings and never see the results that you want.

This is where this guidebook can come in!

It will provide you with many satisfying recipes that you are sure to enjoy, all of which can be used for either your feast or your fast days.

Some of the recipes that you can try from this guidebook include:

  • Tuna tacos
  • Pancakes
  • French Toast with Raspberries
  • Breakfast in a cup
  • Blueberry muffins
  • Strawberry granola
  • Bread pudding
  • Cheesy Scones

  • And so much more

Going on a diet does not have to be difficult or hard to maintain!

Check out the 5:2 fast and some of the delicious recipes in this guidebook, and you will be losing weight without feeling deprived!

A solid source of some good low cal recipes

This is a great resource for people looking to substitute some low-calorie meals into their diets. I don't know about the whole concept behind the diet itself as being something for me particularly, but the food is quite good. I didn't go by the five days or normal diet and two of the low-calorie recipes but instead substituted meals with these lower calorie ones to lower my intake in a week overall. I thought the recipes I have had so far were very good and pretty easy to make. The narration was good and helped walk through all the steps and ingredients very well. Everything was broken down well and easy to follow, and it tastes good.

This Had Some Amazing Recipes

The Complete 5:2 Fast Diet Recipe Cookbook had some fabulous recipes. These are healthy, fairly easy and fairly quick recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert. I listened to this after dinner while sitting at my kitchen table and wrote a few down. I made a mental note of the fact that I actually have many of the ingredients and I pictured myself preparing a few of these dishes while listening to this audiobook and I must say that it seems like it would be fairly easy to follow without written recipes. I don't like to stop to read recipes therefore this makes it simple. I 100% plan to try a few of them tomorrow.

A few recipes that I liked the best were berry french toast, buckwheat pancakes, tomato crisp breads, zuccini pizzas, turkey burgers, sweet potato bowl, strawberry granola, and fruit salad. If those few right there don't make you hungry then I don't know. They sound fab to me and there are a whole lot more.

The narration by Catherine O'Conner was pretty good. She spoke very clearly, she gave the ingredients and the instructions perfectly and I will have no problem following.

Good resource

I actually feel bad giving this book such a good review. The 5:2 diet itself is a colossally bad idea on so many levels. However, using this book as a resource for small healthy alternative foods is still a valuable resource. And since this book is about the food and not the philosophy, I feel it's earned its marks. Also, the narration is quite engaging, especially for a cookbook.

My only complaint is about format. I'm an avid audiobook reader, ranging from a few per week to one per day. However even I find that cookbooks are very hard to follow as an audiobook. While the content is good, it would benefit from also including the recipes as a pdf download.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
