Prophecy written in blood!

After 200 years of searching for other immortals, the Undying High Lord Milo Morai has returned to the Horseclans to fulfill an ancient prophecy and lead them to their destined homeland by the sea.

But in their path wait the armed might of the Ehleenee and an enemy even more treacherous - the Witchmen, pre-Holocaust scientists who have survived the centuries by stealing other men's bodies to house their evil minds and who have in their hidden stronghold the means of destroying all who will not become their willing slaves. horrible narration

What would have made The Coming of the Horseclans better?

If you have a book with a number of Spanish names and language, find a narrator that can do an adequate job or don't try. I couldn't get all the way through the book listening to the narrator use a stereotyped Spanish accent in the 1st few chapters

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Adams? Why or why not?

I love Robert Adams, but not with this narration. I read the horse clan series as a boy and loved them all

How did the narrator detract from the book?

see above

What character would you cut from The Coming of the Horseclans?

none

BUELLER? BUELLER?

READ THIS SERIES BACK WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER AND LOVED THEM. STILL HAVE THE PAPERBACKS. I'D GIVE A OVERALL A 5 STAR INSTEAD OF THE 3 I LEFT IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE NARRATOR. HE IS BY FAR THE DRIEST, AND DROLL READER I HAVE YET TO LISTEN TO. VERY LITTLE ANIMATION OR INFLECTION. SHAME THESE WEREN'T NARRATED BY R.C. BRAY, BRONSON PINCHOT, OR THAT GUY THAT READ "READY PLAYER ONE".

I real treat!

It's a real treat to finally listen to an audiobook of one of my favorite fantasy book series. I remember buying a copy of this from our local bookstore when I was in 6th Grade. I couldn't find all of the books. The world-building aspect of the series is one of the series' highlights. Swords, strategies, tactics, immortals... what's not to like?

Need them all!

This is a great series, I do wish that all of them were available on audio book.

It’s not the 1970s anymore

I was a fan of this series as a child in the 1980s, although I did not enjoy the sexual violence even then. I found that the text had not aged well, and the violence against women is presented in a way that is entirely distasteful.

poor reading of great content

narrator's mispronouncing of many words was distracting to say the least, adding the fact that only 2 of over a dozen books are available saddens me greatly, bit , as I love Horseclans stuff I give it an overall good review....

AGREED!

the narrator/reader is horrible! this book deserves a dynamic reader whose Mexican accent doesn't occasionally become Scottish, his American accent used for the HorseClansmen doesn't frequently become Scottish or Irish and pronunciation of even regular words was consistent! Then the wooden-tones he uses for the speech of characters, and the oddly dead affect for the action scenes... jeez I can see why they only did the first two books when there are like 18 in the series!

and having a woman read for Mara and Aldora would have helped, but other readers have made it well past that hurdle.

A great flashback to childhood reading.

It would have been better with multi person reading but I was very happy. A lot of authors copy Robert Adams today.

This just might happen!

The story was narrated with clear style. Characters were brought to life by both the author and the narrator. I am unable to pick a favourite part as I felt the whole book was my favourite part. Long live the Horseclans. More of them please!!!
