Great tale

Great tale, wonderfully read! The old west at its turning point. I really enjoyed it.

Interesting listen

This audio book kept my attention throughout. It was hard to put down. My only complaint was that it was a bit to long with unnecessary additions

Very entertaining

I enjoyed this audiobook a lot. It took me a little to get use the the fast paced style but once I got into it I finished the story in a day and a half!

A great western story

I loved this book so very much. An outstanding performance by Julia Whelan, every character has their own voice. The story itself was well told and heartbreakingly real, a wonderful glimpse of a world gone forever. The Kid was written so very well it was hard to believe she was created by a man.

The western genre doesn’t get better than this

One of my favorite books, beautifully read. Believable characters that you care about in intense but credible situations. Exciting, dramatic, sweet and poignant. You’ll laugh and cry and be amazed.

Wonderful! LOVED IT!!

This story has the heart and soul of a great western adventure. So beautifully written that you can’t help but fall in love with the characters. Julia Whelan’s narration was perfection as usual. Can’t wait for Book 2!

Good from the beginning…

Julia Whalen is one of my favorite narrators and she did not disappoint with this book. I was immediately pulled into the story. I often listen while I drive and there were many times that I was so immersed in the story that I had no idea where I was going! I love historical fiction because my interests always gets peaked about the true events that happened during that time. Can’t wait to read the next book!

Fantastic & Beyond my wildest expectations!!!

The story, the characters, the narration are all spot on. This is everything I wanted in an audio book. I’m so happy that I followed the other reviews.

Trigger warning about violence, but that’s to be expected with the subject matter. I did not think it was gratuitous though.

I’m a man who you’d never expect to get my emotions wrapped up in an audio book, but I found myself smiling, laughing out loud and getting teary eyed while listening.

I’m a week away from the release of the sequel on audio book and I can’t wait!

Good western

Great novel. You can picture all the action going on and has great characters. The story line is also very interesting.

Wow…what a ride!

Growing up in the cattle business, i know when someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to horses and cattle. This was so well written and was an interesting window into the past of the cattle industry I love. Loved the lingo, the nicknames, and the story of hope and grace even in the wildest, scariest of times. Even had to laugh out loud more than once! I don’t know how she was that brave but I hope there really were spirited women like the Kid back in the day. Highly recommend!!!!
