Publisher's Summary

It was a name that caused the most hardened gunmen to break out in a cold sweat: Texas Ranger Chick Bowdrie. Pursuing the most wanted men in the Southwest, he knew all too well the dusty trails, the bitter cattle feuds, the desperate killers, and the quiet, weather-beaten towns that could explode into mayhem with the wrong word. He had sworn to carry out the law, but there were times when he had to apply justice with his fists and his guns. They called in the Rangers to handle the tough ones, and there was never a Ranger tougher or smarter than Bowdrie. Join Chick Bowdrie in six classic western adventures from America's favorite storytellers, brought to life in vivid audio dramatizations.

The way the west really was

I truly enjoyed this book. The dramatization was excellent and the bonus discussion by Louis L'Amour make this a worthwhile addition to your audiobook library.

Entertaining!

Some interesting stories, but I found the Dramatizations distracting. I love Louis L'Amour westerns, but prefer them without sound effects.

"A Trail To The West" begins with a narration by Louis L'Amour about his research and personal experiences...then goes into the story about a girls kidnapping.

The last story, "Bowdrie Follows A Cold Trail" was my favorite of the 6 stories.

If you like westerns you'll love it

I very much like the Bowdrie stories. This collection has many of the best tales and is worth listening to more than once. I only wish I could get Volume 2 if there is one.

Brought back memories

It was nice to be able to listen to Louis L’Amour’s Collected Bowdrie Dramatizations. I had read the print versions I “Bowdrie” and “Bowdrie’s Law” when I was a young girl. It’s nice to have this collection and I recommend this to all fans of the Western genre.

The Collected Bowdrie Dramatizations: Volume 1

Louis L’Amour is simply the best western fiction writer ever! This series of short stories took me back to the days of the old radio dramas my family used to gather around the old console radio in the living room to listen to together. Good wholesome entertainment!

Good read made into a good listen

I love all of La'Moure 's books and short stories. I appreciate the time and talent used to produce these dramatizations. You stayed close to the original stories and made them come alive. Thank you, for a job done excellently.

Bowdrie Fan for life

Not exactly when my love for Louis L'amour began but I remember siblings who usually were rough and tumble sitting near silently whenever our mom would put a tape or even at the house. Today I have quite a collection of his books but whenever I hear the dramatization I go right back to being a kid and breathlessly wondering if Bowdrie would come out alive... Spoiler ... He does.. Highly recommend to anyone with kids on a long drive !

This did not disappoint at all. If I read it before, and I have most, I don't remember.
