Sweet Contemporary Romance

The story is well written and I got sucked in from the beginning. It’s a great young adult book with the heroine being 18 years old and the main character a couple of years older.

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

There were some interesting and some odd characters in this book. Tanner is a sweetheart although a bit undecided on what to do at times. Sasha is bold and forward.

Conclusion was great and everything worked out for the best. Once I got sucked into this story it was hard to put down.

I really enjoyed this author’s writing style. I’m looking forward to reading more books from this series. It is a strand alone although this book is from the Summer Heat Series.

Morgan Young Is a New to Me Author–I'm a HUGE Fan!

---> Sasha Torrence is spending the summer with her father in Oregon. She wants to get to know her father (who was absent throughout her childhood) in exchange for a free ride to Arizona State, paid for by her dad. His only stipulation is that she needs to get a job, any job.

The Coffee Break is a hole in the wall café with an eclectic bunch of employees (I suspect are great characters for other books in the series.) Sasha is hired on the spot by the manager/owner's son – who is off the charts hot.

This is only a temporary gig – as Sasha is going to be leaving at the end of the summer. Will the mixed signals that Tanner is sending amount to a summer fling? Or will they – Sasha and Tanner – even act on their mutual attraction? What will happen at the end of the summer? What will happen when Tanner's ex-girlfriend comes back?

This is the 1st book I have listened to by Morgan Young. I really enjoyed it. Young writes in a way and with characters that don't take themselves too seriously. This definitely belongs in, but not limited to, the Chic Lit genre. It is a lot of fun. While the characters are young adults, 18–20 years old, they are mature–ish, sometimes a bit immature but the book is written for grown-ups.

I have a few, short books written by this author. If they are written in a similar style, Molly Young has a new fan.

This is the 1st book that I have listened to narrated by Helena Teal, I think. Teal is really good and gives a 4 star performance.

There is some strong language and adult situations.

The coed and the coffee shop manager

Sasha is spending the summer with her dad, who lives in OR...she’s starting college in the fall in AZ. Dad pulls the plug on his checkbook so Sasha applies for a job at the local coffee shop. She’s immediately smitten w the manager, Tanner. The majority of the book details Sasha’s summer...her rocky relationship with her dad, her friendship w coworkers & relationship w Tanner. Tanner’s mother owns the coffee shop but is not a fan of Sasha...she’s Team Luna-Tanner’s ex. Sasha is torn between returning home for college or staying in OR. Then Tanner’s ex returns & wants him back...will Sasha give up? This was a quick YA read and the youthful antics were pretty funny. Good book.

Great young adult romance

I love the coffee shop in this book, the description of it is so wonderfully quirky and the people who work there are just as unique.

Sasha comes across really well, she's completely believable as an 18 year old with all the angst and passion that comes with that. Taten wasn't what I was expecting, the blurb lists him as super hot, but he's referred to as cute by Sasha which is different. He's comes across as quirky, OK a bit weird, but that's a good fit for the people around him. Some of his logic seems very flawed but it did make for a interesting a sweet romance.

The narration is a good match for the book and the character voices are well done.

Sasha is 18, Tanner is 20, going on 21- this is the ideal reader age for this story.
Sasha gets a job at The Coffee Break when she is forced to leave her friends in AZ to visit her father in Portland for the summer. Tanner is managing the shop for his mother, the owner, and they are instantly attracted. Sasha interacts with, and develops friendships with, some odd characters; while falling in love with Tanner. Not really my cup of tea as a mature, adult woman, but I could appreciate some humorous and sweet moments.
Teal does a creditable job with narration.

Good Read

Sasha is visiting her father for the summer and is forced to get a job. She meets and falls for her boss Taten. They vow to take it slow but end up falling in love. But his old love comes back into the picture and messes everything up. Is this a summer fling or can they manage longer. Good narration. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

I received the free audiobook for an honest review. I was intrigued when I read the blurb about the book. However, once I started reading, it was too young adult for me. I did think the narrator, Helena Teal, sounded awesome. Her voice fit the characters. Overall, just okay for me.

Adrenaline hit!

I loved this story - it was funny, cute and an easy listen. The narrator was great she had a lot of energy and portrayed Sasha really well. I could feel a lot of effort went into the characters, but it was let down by a sometimes awkward pacing and not a fantastic recording quality on occasion. If I can hear unintentional recording noise it takes me away from the story. Overall, a good listen :)
