The best narrators, and a great series novella!

This was another fun addition to The Swift series - a very quick and easy read (a novella, under 100 pages, under 3 hours audio running time).

The Swifts are a baseball family - all 3 brothers are very involved in the game. We meet all of the brothers in the first book (The Curve), and book 2 (The Closer) follows middle, widowed brother, Brick, as he meets sports agent January Jordan, and they fall quickly and "swiftly" into a whirlwind romance that quickly leads to an HEA and long term thing that neither saw coming. Brick never imagined at his age that he'd find love again, and January is a very independent woman that also never imagined she would need a man or a relationship, but they both discover how great it is to be able to find that in each other.

A great story, not necessary to read The Curve first, but would definitely be helpful (especially since it's also a novella, it's a quick read to get some backstory on Brick and the family dynamic), before picking up book 3 which is longer - The Cannon.

The audiobook is narrated by 2 of my all-time favourites, Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell - and you will never go wrong with anything you pick up that has these 2 names attached!! They are both absolutely brilliant, well suited to the characters, and as always, give beautiful performances. 5-stars to these two!

I highly recommend giving this story a read (a listen!), as well as The Curve, and I can't wait to hear The Cannon, coming very soon.

Fun & flirty!

Everyone deserves a second chance to find love. Brick and January’s unique love story was sweet and funny and it genuinely warmed my heart. I loved watching Brick open up and I found their cheeky banter entertaining. It’s the kind of story you lose yourself in and you never want to end.

Another successful collaboration between Leslie Pike, Maxine Mitchell, and Joe Arden. Maxine and Joe’s amazing voices brought each one of Leslie’s incredible characters to life.

Friends to Lovers and Over 40

Book 2 in the series but stands alone wonderfully. If you've read the first book, then you will have a few moments to chuckle at when a nod is given, but you won't feel at all lost if this is your first read.

This is the story of Brick and January, two sports agents in Memphis who are both over 40 and not really looking for a relationship. They have some great banter as they become friends, they overshare multiple times which just brings the heat up on this friends to lovers journey.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell do a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life. Joe broke my heart when Brick shared his past with January. There were tears. Maxine has an emotional rollercoaster to take January on as she deals with grief and falls in love.

It's a short audio coming in at just under 3 hours, but it's not short on story. There are laughs, there are tears and the end is so very satisfying.

Heartwarming and Sizzling Romance!

This quick listen is another sweet, heartfelt, sizzling romance in the Swift family series. Brick and January are an amazing couple. Brick lost his wife and their unborn baby years earlier, and he never thought he would love again. January is a successful sports agent and isn't looking for a relationship. When they have a chance meeting, they have so much in common, they become instant friends. That is the foundation to the sparks that ignite between them, and they are unable to remain 'just friends'. January is everything Brick didn't know he was looking for, and Brick is a sweet, fun, and sexy southern gentleman, she can't help but fall for him too. I loved how their relationship grew and developed along with the help of Bricks' hilarious, quirky, and loving family.
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell continue to bring this heartwarming and sizzling story to life. They portrayed the fun and flirty banter between Brick and January beautifully while breaking down both of their walls. I enjoyed their performances that made me laugh, smile and swoon all at the same time.

Perfect!!

I loved Brick and January!! These two sports agents are absolutely perfect together. This book was filled with sweet, steamy, and heartfelt moments. January made Brick want to do more than just go through the motions and was the first woman to spark his interest since losing his wife. Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell were amazing and made this a wonderful listening experience.

Sweet and heartwarming sports romance!

I am loving this Swift series! In this second book in the series, we get Atticus’ brother Brick’s story. Brick has an emotional past and his journey to love was sexy, sweet and heartwarming. I just loved how meeting January healed his heart from the loss in his past. Both he and January are sports agents. While initially neither were looking for anything serious the two connect instantly and it is clear from the beginning that they were always meant to be more.

There simply isn’t anything Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell narrate together that I don’t love. I have said this before and I will say it again Joe is a powerhouse narrator. His voice is smooth and silky in those intimate moments, and raw and emotional during the vulnerable ones. Maxine did a fantastic job as January. Her voice is bright and cheery and I loved her passionate and confident delivery. Such fantastic storytelling!

Bristol (the sister of Atticus and Brick) and Sawyer are up next in The Cannon and I cannot wait to listen to it next.

Awesome novella - Love Brick and January

This is a fun, sexy, romance between Brick and January. They meet and become friends and once the flirting starts, this story gets hot! We learn Brick's story and why he hasn't been in a relationship recently. It's a heartbreaking story, but January is helping him learn to love again. I love that the rest of the family was in this story too. The narration was awesome with Joe and Maxine! I can't wait for the next book in the series! I love the Swift family!

Great Quick Listen!

Loved listening to these two narrators tell Brick and January's story. Two sports agents who meet at a banquet and hit it off right away. They try to prove that they can be friends without benefits but the more time they spend together they find out their attraction to each other makes it difficult. I enjoyed this and look forward to diving into the next Swift story.

A short, sweet, sexy novella

The Closer is a short, sweet, sexy novella and is book two in the Swift series by the incredibly talented Ms Leslie Pike. This is the friends-to-lovers, second chance romance story of Brick Swift and January Jordan.
Brick is a very successful sports agent and on the outside he has it all together, however inside he’s barely treading water since a tragic accident changed the course of his life forever. He’d resigned himself to the fact he’d loved and lost his one true love and now he’s in his 40’s didn’t expect to feel again until he met Ms January Jordan, a fellow sports agent. A woman who is just as successful as he is and is carrying her own baggage.
January’s life is the perfect balance of good and bad. She has a highly established, successful career in a male dominated field; however, she has given up on love after a failed marriage, that is until she meets Brick at a work function when she travels back home to Memphis for both work and pleasure. The two are drawn to one another and there is a real strong connection, steamy hot chemistry and lots of great witty banter from the outset.
Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell breath life into Brick and January and as always, they were magnificent. Joe never fails to draw all the emotions out of my icy black heart and had me all up in my feels, he also knows how to step it up a gear in order to play your body and mind in the most delicious ways with his incredible performances and his portrayal of Brick is no exception. Maxine was the perfect choice for January, and she performed the hell out of the sexy, sensual, boss babe who is killing it in a male dominated career. Maxine is an amazing actress and does a phenomenal job of not only bringing the characters she plays to life but also has you feeling everything like you are right there living the story. I love this pairing together, their voice’s complement each other perfectly. You always know a story and its characters are in safe hands.
I loved Brick and January’s story so very much, it was sweet, funny and packed full of emotion and love. So much so that in this short novella I laughed, cried, swooned and fell hard and fast for the hero and heroine, plus it was also lovely to catch up with the Swift family. The epilogue was simply perfect and I’m chomping at the bit to dive into Bristol’s story in The Cannon.

Sweet Novella

January and Brick are sports agents. They begin to get close, which means the sex starts. I liked this book, the main characters were great. I like that all the books in this series are all stand alone. I also like that in this book the couple from the previous book were in this book too. The steamy part didn't even bother me so much. That dreamy voice Joe Arden has kinda is a panty wetter and Maxine Mitchell matches Joe's voice perfectly. I can't wait to listen to the last book in the series. I'm not really into sport or sports romance but these short novella's are just right. They are highly recommended if you like sports romance, steamy romance and just all around good romance.

Brick & January!

Short and sweet, this book packs it all in and gives us all the feels. Brick has not considered getting back in the game since the death of his wife. He is fully devoted to his clients and just isn't going to make the time for a relationship. Then he meets January. Ambitious, beautiful and so much in common, he finds himself unable to fight off the attraction. She is only in town to pack up her parents' home, so nothing could come of this, right? But when friendship turns romantic, stealing the bases may be the next play! What happens next is just the perfect pitch. This couple is a little older, which makes this listen for me even better. They both have a good sense of who they are separate and it's so much fun to see the meld together! And the ending is just icing on the cake. It's a fantastic story at a second chance at happiness and a great addition to this series.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell continue their narration of this series. Their chemistry oozes straight into this couple, making it impossible for us not to feel it. Arden plays Brick with that wall around his heart and we can feel it melt! January is hesitant, but wiling and Mitchell uses her nuances to make it happen. Love this team when they narrate together. It truly is magic.

Short, sweet and fun

What a sweet, short story following Brick and January. We first met Brick in The Curve as brother to Atticus and I adored his character so I was looking forward to him getting his HEA with January. And I loved that these were two older couples (40s) who behaved as they should. And what a wonderful HEA it was. Well paced for such a short story, this is low angst and will make you smile, Not to mention, the audiobook was perfectly narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden, yet another fantastic reason to listen to this book!

I most definitely loved this one!💕💕

‘The Closer’ is the second book within the ‘Swift’ series. Each book, however, can be read as a standalone.

In ‘The Closer’, Brick (who is widowed at the beginning of the book) finally gets a second chance at love. After his first love, Brick has closed himself off to love, and he puts all his focus on his career as a sports agent. However, this all changes when he meets January.

Although, it isn’t necessarily an insta-love story, their attraction and relationship progress pretty quickly. Which I liked in this context, as they both knew what they wanted and went with it. Also, the fact that they’re older characters meant they were very mature in the way they interacted with each other. I just loved their relationship!

As with the first book, the rest of the Swift family make brief appearances. Again, I love the family’s close-knit dynamics, interactions, and the banter.

What I liked the most about this book was how sweet the characters were to each other. I also loved how this book featured 40+ main characters, as this is not usually the most popular age for characters in this genre.

As with the first book, the narration was bomb! Narrated by Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell, both narrators were fantastic. I felt they provided the audiobook with the perfect emotions and kept me entertained throughout.

Overall, I loved this book and I highly recommend it, especially the audiobook version.

I was provided a free advanced audio copy of this book. However, all opinions shared are my honest thoughts about this book.
