What if you could go back in time to save the person you love the most? The rules are simple. If you want to travel back in time, you need to be at least 18 years old. You can travel only within your own lifespan for a maximum of six months. And, above all else, you must never, ever change the past. But that's exactly what Brooke Wallace plans to do.

As Brooke faces existence without her beloved brother, his life cut short by a rare disease, she can think of only one solution - travel back in time to prevent his death. Along the way she discovers the truth about loss, second chances, and the power to shape our own destinies.

Critic reviews

"Narrator Lorelei King beautifully captures the wide emotional range and unforgettable characters in this utterly fascinating story of time travel, the first in the award-winning Clay Lion series. When Brooke Wallace's beloved younger brother dies of pulmonary fibrosis, she decides to use her one government-approved trip to go back in time to try to reverse his illness and prevent his death. King demonstrates the warm relationships of the Wallace family members and flawlessly expresses Brooke's emotions as she embarks on her mission. Listeners will be deeply moved as she maintains her religious faith and learns from the events that befall her family." (S.G.B. © AudioFile 2015, Portland, Maine)

Amazing book!

I am a tough critic but this is truly one of the best books I have ever read. The premise grabs you, and the story and writing never disappoint.

Great plot,lousy writing

Love the concept of time travel. Too bad author did a lousy job of developing the characters and describing surroundings. It sounded so stilted as if written by an 8th grader.
If you want to read a great book on time travel, try 11-23-63 by Stephen King. I'm not a huge King fan but this was was so well written, he made it credible.

Too adolescent for me to finish...

I liked the concept, but the stuff that interested me, like the logistics and complications of time travel were swallowed up by the immature infatuations of the female protagonist. I think teenagers would enjoy this, but it just wasn't for me. After the 80th time of "my heart stopped..." and "I couldn't breathe..." because a boy liked her, I just quit... haha. Oh well, I like the author's conservative approach to dating, sexuality and relationships very much and wish more were out there like her. There wasn't a lot of blood and death or much of anything to cause great suspense in what I read. I suppose you might like this if you liked the Chronos Trilogy. The narration was really good and I was listening at 1.5X speed just fine. If any of this was helpful, please click YES below.
