The camps represent the greatest systematic incarceration of an entire people since the Third Reich. 

In prison, Sauytbay was put to work teaching Chinese language, culture, and politics, in the course of which she gained access to secret information that revealed Beijing’s long-term plans to undermine not only its minorities but also democracies around the world. Upon her escape to Europe, she was reunited with her family, but she still lives under constant threat of reprisal. This rare testimony from the biggest surveillance state in the world reveals not only the full, frightening scope of China’s tyrannical ambitions, but also the resilience and courage of its author.

Sayragul's story is a must read for everyone! It should be a wake-up call for those of us in the West - we must begin to pay attention to what is happening in China and pull our heads out of the sand.

PLEASE READ THIS BOOK

This book gave me insight into the atrocious crimes against humanity being committed by the Chinese Communist Party against Uyghur Muslims in the Xinjiang province of China. As a Jewish man, I grew up learning about the Holocaust and warning signs of genocide. The warning signs in Xinjiang are terrifyingly similar to those before the Holocaust. This is a MUST READ.

Please read and pass it on!

This non-fictional story was captivating from beginning to end. It provides much needed insight into the the modern history and current affairs of Asia. I would suggest this be mandatory school reading material in colleges and schools around the globe, similar to shedding light on Nazi atrocities conducted in the not so long ago past. I can only hope that this generation does not have to explain why we did nothing in the face of yet another genocide.

Its happening again.

I've been waiting quite a while to read this book and it did not disappoint. This book really gives an inside look into the undeniable oppression facing ethnic minorities in East Turkestan. If you are not aware of th atrocities being committed to these people you need to read this book.

If You Care About Human Rights, Read This Book

I have met many with similar stories who could vouch for what she says. The world needs to wake up to the tragedy unfolding in China. May God bless Saraygul Sauytbay and her family.

Wake up call!

I could not stop listening to this! I used my audible app to listen and I literally couldn't shut it off! Such courage & inspiration! A wake up call for everyone who takes freedom for granted! Shame on the world for ignoring what is happening right now! We said there would never be another after WWII but it is happening right now!

Great book about communism

This book was deeply insightful about communism. I loved how intimate the author is about her life growing up and under communism rule

A Must Read

This book is a raw and inside perspective of the atrocities taking place in China against innocent women, children, and men by the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese officials. I knew the CCP was an autocratic state, but wow….

China's atrocities

This was much better than expected. She not only covers the atrocities at these Chinese camps but also weaves in stories of her upbringing and China's takeover. She was brave to share this information which could have led to her death. This needs to stop immediately.

Read maos great famine by Frank dikötter ,chinas silent army by the spanish journalists. there's no excuse any more not to know and recognise what Beijing has ins tore for us. Beijing is the enemy of freedom, not trump. Shame on you US Democrats. shame on the usa in general for allowing the race baiting to continue. poor whites are hammered non stop. to hell with Marxism! race and gender issues are dividing us, keeping us sidetracked. the ccp has a role for us. a slave existence.
