Publisher's summary

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

Fun rom com at its best

I have been waiting for The Chase to come to audio for months and started listening the moment it was released. I love catching up with the Briar Ice Hockey team especially Fitz and Summer who we met in the previous book. CJ Bloom did a phenomenal job bringing out her whimsical nature and her insecurities brought on by her learning disabilities. Jacob Morgan really brought Fitz to life in his stoicism and how he fought their attraction. Can’t wait to return to Briar for Brenna’s book.

The book itself I loved.

The book itself I loved. The voive actors were refreshing but.... I can't do the no character switch between chapters. The female voice trying to deepen to the male character and vice versa it just doesn't work. That being said I was actually able to finish this book, there are others that I couldn't.

THE BRIAR BOYS ARE BACK!

I was so happy to find this book on Audible. I love the Briar boys and have listened to the other books by Elle Kennedy numerous times. This book is just as good. It will be one that you can listen to again and again. Love hearing about Summer and Fitz. Can't wait until the other two are on Audible also. So worth the credit!

Amazing! Funny! Exciting book!

This author writes a fun, interesting and exciting story for Book #1 in the Briar U series. I truly enjoyed the characters and their quirky personalities. Summer and Brenna were total hoots. But narrator C J Bloom really brought them to life! Looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

Beauty and the geeky jock!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narrator: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: 😎☺️🙃😚😍

The heroine: Summer Hayward-DeLaurentis - Summer is from a wealthy New York family. After she burns down her sorority house and gets kicked out of college, she moves from New York to Briar University only finding out when she gets there that she can’t move into the sorority house on campus. She is forced to move into with her brothers hockey friends.

The Hero: Colin Fitzgerald (a.k.a. Fitz) - Tall, sexy, hockey playing unicorn of a man. Though hockey players are treated like Gods at Briar U, he feels he is just a nerd. “A nerd Masquerading as a God”. He designs and reviews video games.

The Story: Summer met Fitz before at a few parties, but has never paid her any attention. Little does she know that he has always been attracted to her but he always runs the other way. He knows she is the type that thrives on drama and he hates drama. He also stays away from her because he is friends with her brother, even though her brother graduated and moved to New York.

The book is told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narration was done by Jacob Morgan and C.J. Bloom. I love Jacob Morgan, he is a great narrator, he has a deep and gravelly voice and is a terrific voice actor, showing emotion through his voice very well. I wasn’t as fond of C.J. Bloom, but her voice did match Summer. I wasn’t too fond of her as a character at first either.

The world building was great. There were a lot of details about the process of creating a new video game, beta testing and so on. I also liked the fact that Summer has a learning disability. It definitely helps to give insight into why she is the way she is and a bit into why Fitz has a problem with wanting to date her.

The chemistry was explosive, and the main characters were terrific and the supporting characters were great as well. This was pretty much your standard new adult sports romance, though I really liked that Fitz was about more than just sports. He was more into his game development and art than hockey, it was just like he happened to play hockey as well as all the other things he had going on. I also like that he is more of a geek than a jock.

Get Caught Up in the Chase

Great story about finding love and conquering old fears. Wonderful characters and hot chemistry. Fun college friendships, some angst, vulnerability, and heart.

Great vocal performances by the narrators. The thoughts and emotions of these college aged beings felt intense and gripping.
