Publisher's summary

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother.

And that his best friend has a crush on me.

And that I just moved in with them.

Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

I suppose it doesn’t matter. Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down. I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing?

He knows where to find me.

Predictable and shallow

The book was interesting enough to finish listening to it, but it was so predictable that I already knew what would happen. The story is mainly about two immature people who list after each other, finally have sex and tell each other, I love you. The characters had little depth. So, overall, a waste of my credit

couldn't finish...

I had to stop listening to this book. Maybe its more geared for a younger reader. I found Summer to be immature and the total college scene to be so childish and boring. Nothing happening in this book held my interest in any way. Jacob Morgan does good on his narration but CJ's voice added to Summer's spoiled and immature behavior. enough was just enough...

Narrators? Seriously??

The narrator reading for Fitz is awesome. I’ve listened to his other books and absolutely LOVE HIM.... I would actually prefer for him to read for ALL of the characters.... he does a great job even when reading for the females. Perfect. Couldn’t ask for anything better.
HOWEVER.... who picked the narrators for Summer and Brenna?!?! They sound like 40 year old country club, yacht moms..... neither of them fit the part and it almost ruins the book. These details matter. Something as simple as this can make or break a read.

The Chase

Summer and Fitzy
I loved this couple, they really are completely different from each other yet really do complement each other.
I am a sucker for a college romance.
I liked that he was running scared because of his past it showed he was vulnerable but he also grew. The honesty might have taken time but once they both opened up it was refreshing.

Summer and all she has to go through it really is no wonder she doubts herself so much because when she does seek help she gets rebuffed. She is a pretty strong character.

I enjoyed the narration; these are two of my favorites so I have nothing but admiration for them.

The book itself I loved.

The book itself I loved. The voive actors were refreshing but.... I can't do the no character switch between chapters. The female voice trying to deepen to the male character and vice versa it just doesn't work. That being said I was actually able to finish this book, there are others that I couldn't.

Fun rom com at its best

I have been waiting for The Chase to come to audio for months and started listening the moment it was released. I love catching up with the Briar Ice Hockey team especially Fitz and Summer who we met in the previous book. CJ Bloom did a phenomenal job bringing out her whimsical nature and her insecurities brought on by her learning disabilities. Jacob Morgan really brought Fitz to life in his stoicism and how he fought their attraction. Can’t wait to return to Briar for Brenna’s book.

Total B rated book!

This book had a weak storyline, not a lot of depth in characters. Would not recommend.

✫✫ 3.5 Stars ✫✫

I enjoyed this book but I wouldn't say I loved it. It was sweet, fun and very typical New Adult. I liked Summer, she was fun but had a take no sh*t attitude which I loved. Fitz on the other hand was just ok, he was a little to standoffish for my taste. I liked most of the side characters so much more than the main characters and that just means I need to listen to book 2!

I have to say I thought CJ Blooms choice for the voice of Brenns was completely wrong. She made her sound like an old lady when she is like 21. Other than that I did enjoy both CJ Bloom & Jacob Morgan for Summer & Fitzy.

23 chapters back and forth...ENOUGH ALREADY

If you feel like spending 10 hours being frustrated by a repetitive theme that keeps happening over and over, this is the book for you. We have Summer who falls in love with Fitz in the beginning. Then she over hears him dissing her while he tries to convince himself he doesn't want her so she kisses someone else in front of him at midnight instead of him and he wonders why. Then they spend the rest of the book perpetrating the emotional equivalent of a yo yo. She gives up on him and turns to Hunter and Fitz can't stand it. So he does/says something to draw her back in. Gullible idiot that Summer is she falls for it, going back to Fitz, only to have him run and avoid her AGAIN. I'm sorry, but if a guy tells me he thinks about being with me all the time then runs fast and far: STRIKE ONE. Then Fitz tells Summer he thinks about her all the time and can't get her out of his head, then drives off leaving her standing alone without a coat wearing a crop top and skinny jeans at night in a bar parking lot: STRIKE TWO. Also, she gave Fitz a BJ in the men's locker room after which he promises to find her later for a "talk" then does a disappearing act by leaving town and then avoiding her for DAYS: STRIKE THREE. This is an ongoing theme. Summer has a perfectly sweet guy, Hunter, who wants a relationship with her and treats her with caring and respect but she keeps ditching him for the human yo-you, Fitz, who can't figure out what he wants. She finally is about to go on a date with Hunter when Fitz corners Summer in her room demanding she not go. All the while refusing to commit himself when she keeps demanding a reason why. Summer goes on the date anyway only to dump Hunter half way thru and return to Fitz AGAIN. I wanted to reach into the book and shake her. Then there is CJ's narration. This woman has NO volume control. She doesn't know how to narrate ANYTHING without yelling most of her dialogue. Not even Jacob could offset her. I ended up skimming alot of her readings to get thru them quickly.

Get Caught Up in the Chase

Great story about finding love and conquering old fears. Wonderful characters and hot chemistry. Fun college friendships, some angst, vulnerability, and heart.

Great vocal performances by the narrators. The thoughts and emotions of these college aged beings felt intense and gripping.
