It’s 1995, and Houston orthopedic surgeon Dr. Jim Bob Brady has been sued for medical malpractice; a mysterious infection caused a knee replacement to end up as an amputation. Donovan Shaw, a ruthless plaintiff’s attorney, has taken the case and doesn’t seem bothered by the fact that he and Brady share a number of friends. “It’s not personal!” Shaw says. AI will never be able to replace humans!
I have listened to several books that are narrated by virtual voice and although passable, nothing beats narration by a human. The story was interesting and the primes plausible. The text needs to be proof read, as the AI read the typos, just a few of examples: women instead of woman, crowed instead of crowded and breath instead of breathe. Also, the author used words that did not fit the context, as if they were trying to sound intelligent. Unfortunately throwing 10 dollar words in here and there without knowing their definition has the opposite effect. There was an attempt to use several common idioms, however, they were incorrectly stated, one example… “to make sure things were above deck,”should be “to make sure things were above board.” Incorrect sentence structure and misuse of adjectives and verbs. An English teacher would have a hard time listening to this. These issues really detracted from a great storyline! The conclusion was abrupt, perhaps the author was unsure how to wrap up the ending. I hope that the author will have the book proof read and edited, as many individuals will be to distracted by these things to enjoy a good story.
