Publisher's summary

Widely respected as a civil libertarian, legal educator, and defense attorney extraordinaire, Alan M. Dershowitz has also been a passionate though not uncritical supporter of Israel. In this audiobook, he presents an ardent defense of Israel's rights, supported by indisputable evidence. Dershowitz takes a close look at what Israel's accusers and detractors are saying about this war-torn country. He accuses those who attack Israel of international bigotry and backs up his argument with hard facts.

Very good and important book

However the authors premise doesn't support his conclusion. If the facts presented are true, then there will never be a 2 state solution. Don't get me wrong, It's a great idea, but the PLO doesn't even want the Palestinian "refugees" as its citizens in an independent state. That should tell you everything you need to know about having a "partner for peace".

Is Middle East peace possible???

We know that there has been conflict in the region between Israel and its Arab neighbors since the establishment of the Jewish state of Israel after World War II. But from then to today, peace still eludes the region.

The author who also happens to be an attorney, makes a case for the right of Israel to exist... putting aside the various forms of anti-Semitic rhetoric that further clouds the possibility of peace, we are taken exhibit by exhibit through what both sides are arguing and makes a strong case for the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state.

If you want to see both sides point of view and reasoning, this book is also an excellent primer for Middle East history.

I would recommend this book strongly for anyone involved in Middle East peace process as well as for those who want to understand better the conflict.

Factual and very objective

Besides being very well written and always kept me engaged, it is wonderful overview and history of the essential Israel Arab/Muslim dilemma. It's still relevant in 2024.

Not factual at all.

"Only several thousand Palestinian families were forcibly removed from their land." Thats all. Only several thousand.

A historical perspective.

This is informative with history to fill in the gaps in my perspective. Ever since I can remember, Israel and the Palestinians have been in the news. Worth a listen now since it is making big headlines again.

Dershowitz is terrible

Gave this book a try, stepped back from my bias. Still it is so unbalanced from Dershowitz’ perspective. A lot of good information but it feels incomplete and tainted with a Zionist spin. Dershowitz will come crumbling down soon enough along with his contemporaries.
