I started this series when there were 3 books. I find myself just waiting for the next book in this series to come out. It may be my favorite series ever. With a shout out to every book Joe Abercrombie has ever written. If you like historical fiction the. This is the gold standard.

Endurance

William Gold continues his tale of evolving into a master of war. He is a warm and detailed storyteller of his own journey. The reader is excellent, and the story carries us through another year of his embattled life. The result is another satisfying adventure. But the tale doesn’t finish - there must be more - and the ending is a little frustrating. Not a cliffhanger, but a number of unfinished storylines left hanging.

Great as always, but…

Great as always, but two things keep annoying me. The first thing is changing the names of the characters, for example from sister Marie to sister Maria, or from Marieta to Maria, I have to admit that I don’t understand why. The other thing is the use of the demonyms, for example referring to the almogávares as Catalans, makes them no justice. Or using the word Spanish to refer to people from Castile, Aragon or Navarre in my opinion is confusing, Spain was not even an idea until the emperor Carlos in the 16th century.

BUT OVERALL AMAZING!

The stories, descriptions and character personalities are mesmerizing. This book consolidates Mr Cameron as my favourite historical narrative writer. He has managed to make me rediscover my Christian faith and add a little bit of consideration to honor in my daily life.
