Publisher's Summary

As a young boy, 18-year-old Daniel witnessed his father’s crucifixion at the hands of the Romans. Consumed by hate, his one desire is to drive the legions from Israel. But as he works with a band of outlaws using guerrilla tactics, he also begins to pay attention to the teachings of a wandering rabbi from a nearby town. Caught between his desire for revenge and the demands of his family, Daniel goes repeatedly to hear Jesus preach. Each time he leaves disappointed that Jesus doesn’t take a stand against the Romans. Will Daniel learn to heed the message of forgiveness before his violent lifestyle leads to disaster?

Twice awarded the Newbery Medal, Elizabeth George Speare also received the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award in recognition of her collected body of historical fiction. Narrator Pete Bradbury gracefully brings life to Daniel and deftly illuminates the world he lived in.

A great story! Worth a credit...

I decided to "take a chance" with my credit on this because I liked Sign of the Beaver (by the same author). Well, you won't be taking a chance with this book, you're sure to have a great time. It's a great idea for a story and written very well, and I was entertained throughout. The narrator was a good fit for the characters too.

Wonderful, well written story!

Would you listen to The Bronze Bow again? Why?

Yes! Such an enjoyable story of a young man's journey to overcome hate and embrace love. Very redemptive theme, that can be heard over and over again.

Who was your favorite character and why?

So many great characters in this story it is too hard to choose. But I love the authentic nature of Daniel. A young man struggling to give up what many would agree is justifiable hate and deciding to love in spite of what has taken place in his past.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Thacia realizes that Daniel now has peace and is free to pledge his love to her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment of forgiveness in Daniels heart, peace washing over him and Leah being set free from her demons!

Any additional comments?

A wonderful book to read as a family. So many great discussions have spurred from this text. :-)

Moving coming of age story

This book is worth 5 stars. Daniel's conflict and anger works so well into this story of redemption. This book had just the right amount of tension The ending is perfect and to the point. The narration is very good and I felt that Pete Bradbury was the perfect narrator. This book is good for young teams, old teams parents and old folks like me in my 60's. I have never heard of this book till a couple of weeks ago and it was such a sweet treat to listen to and get lost in the story. I
