The beginning of an epic romance

It’s been a few months now since I listened to The Bridge Kingdom, but I’m still thinking about how much I enjoyed it. I’ll occasionally go back and look at all the positive reviews and feel proud of this little gem for doing so well since it’s come out. It’s a really fun romantic fantasy, exactly my cup of tea, with a clever plot and engaging characters that kept me tuned in. I loved that the heroine had to pretend to be meek but was actually an assassin—we get to keep this little secret in our back pocket until wham! Lara plays her hand just right. And it’s the beginning of a series so we are going to be getting more of Lara and Aren soon! If you like a fast-paced romantic fantasy with a kickass heroine and a slow burn relationship, I recommend you pick this one up. —Melissa B., Audible Editor

This book will trigger fellow fantasy romance lovers

While I was in the midst of this book, every hour of my day that I was not listening felt like a wasted hour. Needless to say, I finished it pretty quickly. I will admit that in the beginning I hated our main character, Lara, because I thought she had done a terrible, terrible deed that I could not forgive her for. But when I found out how wrong I was, I loved Lara more fiercely than I had hated her. Narrators Lauren Fortgang and James Patrick Cronin were absolutely perfectly cast. Their performances elicited strong emotions in me, and I devoured the drama, romance, and knife-edged tension faster than I thought possible. It was completely delicious! —Melissa B., Audible Editor

The story was full of adventure, suspense, romance, and action. The relationship between the main characters was a fantastically written slow burn, enemies to lovers.

Lara is a badass and Aren is a strong king with a heart of gold. I was rooting for both of them, even when Lara was under the brainwashing of her father. The book never lost my attention and that speaks volumes!

I cannot wait to read the sequel! 🙌🏻

The narrators were amazing and the storm sounds at the beginning of each chapter added a unique listen without distracting from the story. A+ listen!

If you like stories that have a badass female lead with plenty of battle scenes all for the sake of morality and love - this book will steal your heart. It’s a really good story that isn’t horribly stuffed with your typical romantic nonsense, but has a good balance between story telling, character development and romance. Also there is a second book that comes out 27 Feb 2020 here on audible. Enjoy!

I’m blown away by how great this was! It reminded me a bit of The Winner’s Curse which I loved (maybe the writing/storytelling, elements, or characters) but it’s entirely its own story, if TWC might turn you off, and it was amazing. Very well developed in world building and relationships.

I love this book so much. I am so irritated there isn’t a second book... it came out in 2018. I’m just surprised because I thought this was a series. Would love to see a second book

Noooo! It can’t be over. I’m sitting on the edge of my seat and I am so ready to dive into the next book. I love this story. I have been breathless through most of it. I love the characters. The narration is outstanding. I am desperate for the the next release!!!!

I loved this book! For me it was the perfect mix of world building; action; emotion and romance.
The characters are never annoying (pretty rare) and the story is gripping!
Plenty nail biting anticipation and good old fashioned drama.
I need the second book now!
