Publisher's summary

A new epidemic is sweeping the country. Some people call it ADHD, scatter brain, or brain fog. Some simply say they just don't feel like themselves - and haven't for a long time. People are thinking and feeling worse than ever. Why? Because our brains are not getting the support they need to produce the essential brain chemicals that keep us energized, calm, focused, and inspired. In fact if you look at the way most of us live, it's almost as though we've chosen a lifestyle deliberately intended to undermine our brain chemistry.

Fortunately there is a solution. The Brain Fog Fix is a three-week program designed to help you naturally restore three of your brain's most crucial chemicals: serotonin, dopamine, and cortisol. Rebalancing these three brain chemicals will, in turn, enable the rest of your brain's chemistry to reach optimal levels. You will find yourself thinking more clearly, remembering more accurately, learning more quickly, and unleashing the floodgates of your creativity. You will also find yourself feeling more optimistic, calm, energized, connected, and inspired. The good news is that this is easier than you think. Instead of trying to ambitiously overhaul one aspect of your life entirely with some difficult-to-maintain resolution, begin by making small and achievable changes in many different areas of your life.

"If I've learned one thing from the thousands of people I've treated, it's that you have to take the whole person into account if you want to think and feel better." (Dr. Mike Dow)

I love listening to this book!

The book is very informative! Before it asks you to do anything, it really explains why you ought to do something. Now, it all depends on you whether you will do it or not. :)

Loved this

Fantastic insight. Wasn’t too scientific to understand. Dr. Dow really knows what he’s talking about and breaks it down for people who are not doctors to understand. He also is easy to listen to.

Not always relevant outside of America

I live in Europe, the whole medicine list and other produce mentioned in the book is none existing where I live. Beyond these remarks, it is an interesting book with some good tips.

Too much man-splaining

I gleaned a lot of information from the first half of the book, but was very frustrated when he started talking about MOM BRAIN. A single man with a dog has no clue what it’s like raising children in the world we live in. I have 4 children and have experienced a variety of mental health challenges and MOM BRAIN over the past 16. Other than eating healthier and exercising more, I found few practical solutions.

Same old self helpSuggestions

Had I never heard any of these suggestions before, this would be a great all inclusive look into doable changes.
Otherwise it is just a large compilation of advice in all the diet, mind, sleep, environment etc... that have been said before.
Great for your first self improvement book, all inclusive.
Years later though and just looking for some inspiration, it’s nothing new here.

Interesting

The strength of this book wasn’t so much in the nutritional aspects but rather in the visualization and insights into thinking patterns.

The Brain Fog Fix

I enjoyed the tips and could recognise exactly where I am going wrong with my eating habits. The recommendations is most definitely worth trying and isn’t so difficult to adhere to. Thanks Dr. Mike

Solid Advice on Good Living

The advice is much like those given in any health book - cut down on sugar, eat more vegetables, cut down on caffeine and alcohol, do both physical and mental exercises, and get plenty of sleep. I like how when the author gives examples of patients going through difficulties, he's empathetic and starts them on small steps. He doesn't judge why they have neglected their bodies for so long.
