Publisher's summary

Romans is the definitive statement of Christian doctrine - the most comprehensive book in the New Testament. Its impact on history is unequaled. This is the first in a trilogy (Galatians, Hebrews) on Habakkuk 2:4 - "the just shall live by faith" - which later became the mantra of the reformation. It has an international outlook: As a Roman citizen, and with both Hebrew and Greek culture of history, religion, philosophy, poetry, science, music, etc., Paul's Epistle to the Romans is the most profound writing that exists anywhere. It is the definitive analysis on sin, the law, and grace, and it answers the most profound question: It may be that Deity can forgive sins, but I do not see how. (Socrates, 500 BC)

A Detailed Study

Would you listen to The Book of Romans: A Commentary again? Why?

Everytime you read Scripture, you find something you overlooked before. Dr. Missler's studies are a great way to find those hidden gems and encourage to even great study of God's Word.

What about Chuck Missler’s performance did you like?

Although sometimes repetitive, Dr. Missler is an excellent teacher, who really fills in the gaps for his students while encouraging them not to take his teaching at face value, instead challenging you to do your homework and prove him wrong.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but to do so would be exhausting due to the shear volume of material.

Excellent exposition

He talks a bit too fast and consequently mumbles sometimes, and can get repetitive since it's not a book but rather a series of teachings wherein he reviews previous sessions' material. Aside from that, the content is insightful, thorough, and engaging.

Sound Treatment

The setting is a Church, so you will get the end and the beginning at the start and end of each session. I personally didn't mind the repetition, because the meat in between was so heavy, it made the minor inconvenience worth it. The prayers at the end of the sessions were an added bonus, rather than an unwelcome distraction.

Although I do not agree with everything Dr. Missler says Theologically, it is clear that his ideas are well thought out and coherent within the entire whole. I thoroughly enjoy his preaching style and even his murmurs which are completely intelligible to anyone truly listening to what he is saying.

Well Done! I can't wait to listen to more of his work!

A rare gemstone in audiobook bible commentary.

This is a rare audiobook commentary of the book of Roman's that is in depth but not over the lay readers head.

Repetitive

The first two hours of this audiobook are nearly word for word repetition. I stopped into hour three for lack of hearing a single from the book of Romans
