Really Hearing the Revelation

Many profess to love the Book of Revelation. They claim great insight into its “prophetic truth.” With detailed charts and maps, Prophecy Teachers elaborate concerning God’s great future wars on Gog and Magog.

They often miss the message of hope and, yes, the actual apocalyptic destruction…from a warming planet induced by human pollution combined with religion.

This Unveiling can be a wonderful message upon which to meditate. But not in the current superficial manner.
How can we allow ourselves to hear again, and more deeply, the living message of Revelation? Perhaps the best way is to sit with the silence, to listen to πνευμα, to let this wind-spirit speak and quicken the words of truth.

And then read from an updated, poetic version of this transtheistic book. If one reads with enough passion, then this passage, from Chapter 10, becomes reality:

8 The voice I’d heard again spoke unto me:
“Go, take the book that lies within the hand
of one who stands upon the sea and land.”
9 I went, and to the figure said, “Give me
the transtheistic book you hold in hand.”
And it replied, “Then take it, eat it whole;
it will be sweet as honey on your tongue,
yet in your belly it will turn to gall.”
10 I took the book and ate it as was told;
and sweet it was within my mouth to taste,
but once consumed, it burned within my gut.
11 Then I was told: “You must again declare
your words to peoples, tongues, and ersatz kings.”

A fully digested meal of Revelation will encourage us to be Messengers of Truth to all kinds of folk…including would-be kings.
