“I hate you,” Cree moaned. They lay flat on their backs on top of the supplies, the ceiling spinning above, gasping for breath. “Some partner you are. You puked on me!” “It’s your fault,” Ben wheezed. “I wouldn’t have barfed on you, if you hadn’t barfed on me first.” Sixteen-year old Ben is the Last Gatekeeper, tasked with closing the portals between the world of man and the world of Em -- a magical land created to protect creatures of myth that once existed in the old world. After successfully closing the gate in the Center Lands, Ben and Cree, along with the others, journey to the Northern Mountains to close the second gate. Unfortunately, things don’t go the way they’ve planned at all. Barely a day passes where their lives aren’t in mortal danger. To make matters worse, the waters of Ben’s relationship with his half-breed faerie mate, Cree, are anything but tranquil. And if that isn’t bad enough, he doesn’t even know the location of the second gate he’s supposed to close. From ravenous wolves, to dragons; every encounter is fraught with danger and delight. Facing seemingly insurmountable obstacles the entire way, Ben and the others are determined to complete their mission, or die trying.
