Publisher's Summary

In the spring of 1995, Nate Cartwright has lost everything: His parents are dead, his older brother wants nothing to do with him, and he's been fired from his job as a journalist in Washington, DC. With nothing left to lose, he returns to his family's summer cabin outside the small mountain town of Roseland, Oregon, to try to find some sense of direction.

The cabin should be empty.

It's not.

Inside is a man named Alex. And with him is an extraordinary little girl who calls herself Artemis Darth Vader.

Artemis, who isn't exactly as she appears.

Soon it becomes clear that Nate must make a choice: let himself drown in the memories of his past, or fight for a future he never thought possible.

Because the girl is special. And forces are descending upon them who want nothing more than to control her.

Another amazing story

TJ Klune is a master storyteller. He has the ability to write in many different genres without losing that “thing” that makes his books so special. The Bones Beneath My Skin bring two broken men together in extraordinary circumstances and together along with a young girl bonds are made that can’t be broken.
Greg Trembly did an outstanding job narrating this beautiful book.

TJ Klune is freaking amazing!

it just amazes me how TJ Klune can go from romantic comedy, to horror, to sci fi, then back, then start all over again. This book kept me from beginning to end. I'm not one to talk about specifics but once again he brought a "kid" into the picture that just melted my heart.

Wow

TJ has done it again. The beginning pulls you in, especially if you’re familiar with Into This River I Drown, and the rest of the book will have you on the edge of your seat. Greg Tremblay does a fantastic job, even with the voice of a ten year old girl.

Highly, highly recommend.

Stunning!

TJ Klune never fails to catch me up in his words and worlds till I am stunned by the reach of his works. This story is by no means an exception. Beautiful, tense, haunting. Grab this audiobook and plan to dedicate yourself to being caught by a wonderful spiderweb excellently performed by Greg Tremblay.

Wow.... just. Wow.

TJ Klune is one of those authors that can alter his writing-voice so that you never can really anticipate the outcome of a story simply from the authors name. Each of his works stands apart from the other. You never quite know what you'll get, only that you will FEEL every single moment of it.
This book was no exception. There were tears of laughter, tears of pain, tears of relief.
Greg Tremblay's performance was lovely.

go buy this audiobook. do it. now. you won't regret it.

very, very nice! I love science SF & GR

I love science fiction and gay romance, but I never thought them together! Amazing story, fresh & different. I believe it took some courage to write and publish this book. I am so happy someone had that courage. I would enjoy a sequel to it.

Sorry to say, not a big hit with me...

Well TJ, you chose very wisely in asking the awesome Mr T to narrate this story...I'm just sorry that I didn't love it [the story] as much as I'd hoped I would.

I liked the inclusion of Big Eddie and Benji from Into This River I Drown, and of course the mention of Green Creek, BUT I can't honestly say that this story was a big hit with me, and it took forever to get into. I didn't like Nate very much at all...and I have to say that for an investigative journalist, he was pretty clueless sometimes. He spent most the story in a huge pity party for one, and didn't take a lot of notice of what was going on around him. Alex was just...scary, and yes, I get that he was protecting Art and couldn't take any unnecessary chances, but growly and gruff for the whole of the read surely wasn't necessary??

My favourite character was of course the wonderfully named Artemis Darth Vader. Greg's interpretation of Art was just amazing cos he's pretty good at female voices anyhoo, but he really got on board with the highs and lows of Art's 'life', and the enthusiasm with which he voiced Art's new-found fascination with [and appreciation of] bacon was a joy to listen to :-).

All in all, I'd award 5 stars for Greg's narration and 4 stars for the story. My fave sci-fi type read of TJ's is still BURN.
