Publisher's summary

In 1877, an alien element exploded in Railroad City, Missouri, granting superhuman powers to some of its population. A few of those affected formed a Guild of Honor, committing spectacular acts of bravery and justice. But for one, the Spaceman, a peculiar quirk from years before has taken him over: the Moon calls to him. But why? How? What does a dead world have to offer? Unable to find peace without answers, he asks his allies to build the impossible and undertakes a daring escapade to reach fair Luna. Desperate to find the truth or die trying, he casts himself out into the void.

Takes time to understand that it's an excellent story.

This is one of the hardest story for me to review.
The story itself is excellent but it takes time to understand how good it is!
Also it's a very short one and somehow the author was able to create a beautiful masterpiece in such a short time, not an easy task!
This book needs a continuation at least a trilogy, there is so much that is needed to complete this story which could complete the missing pieces and Finnish what can really be a beautiful masterpiece.
I have no problem recommending this book for science-fiction readers.

From Terra to Luna

Ah! The Spaceman, Superman (or, more appropriately, Captain Atom) of the Railroad City. As is Mr. Jackson’s style, questions are answered, and more arise. If only he could write faster. I want all of the Rail’s secrets!
I felt that the accent and tone of the readers voice were excellent for this tale, though I did need to play with my car stereo audio settings to render him clear. A minor flaw.
I hope more tales of the Golden age, of the Guild of Honor, follow.

Spaceman's Revenge

What did you love best about The Blossom of Hours?

Non-linear telling of story; references the past on The Rail (although this could easily be a stand-alone introduction to the author's writing), giving us more adventure, alternate realities and possibilities in travel and mind utilization. The narrator's light accent lends itself to the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Blossom of Hours?

Amberson's interactions with his Mother-in-Law.

Which scene was your favorite?

Amberson's learning of how he has been utilized for war.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I like the idea of a woman in charge.

Any additional comments?

The Blossom of Hours is a space / sci fi adventure story, convoluted; even the main character does not know his past and is learning about his old life, with his wife. It makes for many questions about possible tech uses of human's minds. Author, William J Jackson, has made an alternate universe of characters; showing us their appearance, power distribution and language, with opportunities to expand this society in the future. Fans of life beyond Earth will enjoy an introduction to a new society.
