The mind plays funny tricks

The author of this book Miss Bianka has a twisted scary mind and I would be nervous if I lived in the same house with her. From the very first sentence of the book my mouth fell open and didn’t close till it was over and that feeling you get from reading such books went away. Are usually say the grittier the better, but I think this time I have met my match. What an imagination Miss Bianka has. I don’t think I will ever get over the opening make out scene with her and her husband all I can say is oh Em Gee OMG oh Em Geeand yes OMG! If you like serious psychological twist Cora and degradation it’s all in this book and more so much more I cannot think of a word to describe it. Let me just say I really love this book.

Great Short Story with major creep factor!

This was a great short story. I have not listened to the others but will have to check them out now!! This one is between a doctor and a patient and boy does the twist get you!!
Brenda is in love with Doctor Franco. Brenda was accused of murdering her husband but doesn't recall it happening so she is sent to the Asylum or "the house". Doctor Franco is the only person who makes it bearable and loves her for who she is. Or so she thinks.
Listen for a delightfully narrated story by Holly Holt! She does a fantastic job bringing all the creep factor out that B. Pheasant created!

Watch out for the twist!

Would you listen to The Black Widow again? Why?

Yes, to see how the author builds up to the big twist.

What other book might you compare The Black Widow to and why?

Maybe something by Stephen King: horror and suspense and ... a big twist at the end.

Which character – as performed by Holly Holt – was your favorite?

Brenda!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

That twist at the end. I wasn't expecting it and it was delicious!

Any additional comments?

I hope that the author also writes some longer works. Although I really enjoy these short, while-I'm-walking-the-dog stories, something like this story I could dig into a while longer!

Delusional Patient

The Black Widow is the story of a delusional mental patient. A well crafted story, it is suspenseful with a surprise ending. Holly Holt did an excellent job, especially as the Black Widow!

One of the best stories I have come across!

If you could sum up The Black Widow in three words, what would they be?

Surreal, insane, riveting.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I was hooked from the beginning. The story is incredible and the main character is completely complex and mesmerizing. The narrator also did a fantastic job in capturing the essence of the author's story.

Which scene was your favorite?

Absolutely the opening scene; just that alone, left me wanting to follow through until the end.

Any additional comments?

This would be the type of story I would love to watch as a movie. The visuals described left me with clear pictures of what was happening. This is something I could listen to many times more and I would definitely recommend to, not only horror fans, but fans of good story telling.

A short and creepy horror story

This is a short story written in the first person so it is more like a monologue. We enter the world of Brenda through her thoughts and feelings. It was well narrated with good characterisation and the story was interesting.
