The Black Widow
Publisher's Summary
Alone in the isolated northern manor of Northcumbria, newlywed Laura cannot figure out who to trust. The harsh, sour housekeeper, Miss Tates, who seems to be hiding a secret? The mysterious visitor Mr. Humbold, who claims to be the family banker with a pressing contract she must sign? Or her husband, already off on business, who seems to have suddenly lost interest in her?
But as the secrets at the manor begin to pile up, another woman arrives: the charming, comforting Lady Rathbone. Newly widowed, she makes an instant friend of Laura, and helps her make sense of the shifting alliances and dark secrets of the estate. But Lady Rathbone may have skeletons of her own, and in a place as treacherous as Northcumbria, such secrets are almost always deadly.

Intriguing Story
Margaret Windsor spins a wild tale of mystery and murder that will you keep you guessing until the end. Although it is a short story, it is full or twists and turns that make it an enjoyable read.
Narrator Roger Wood has a fabulous deep voice with a melodic tone but it was lack luster for this mystery. With no variation between voices and little inflection of tone I found myself not enjoying the novel as much as I wanted to.
This audiobook was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
