Publisher's summary

A year ago, Sarah Palmer was utterly humiliated in every possible way while visiting her cousin in Denver. She vowed she'd never go back to that awful place, but then, she gets a letter telling her that her aunt has fallen ill and would like to see her...in Denver.

Stephen Howard feels terrible for the way his family treated Miss Palmer the previous summer and wishes he could do something to make up for it. When she returns to Denver to visit her aunt, he realizes that this could be his chance.

Two people from two entirely different walks of life, so different and yet, so much the same. As they navigate all the roadblocks keeping them apart, will they learn to endure the bitter so that they can eventually taste the sweet?

Great Series

The narrator was very good with both male and female voices, which brought the story alive. The romance was sweet and Stephen was a great hero. If you want an entertaining short read, this is a great one.

I requested a free audiobook from the author. My review was voluntary and my comments were my own.

Captured my Heart

A sweet story that captured my heart. I listened to the audio and the narrator had a very pleasant voice and did a great job with this story. The main characters were strong, it just took a little bit for Sarah to find out she had grit just like some of the people that were doing her wrong. I liked that Sarah had a good heart and wanted to help where/when she could. Even though she had to leave her home that she really loved she wasn’t bitter about it. Stephen and Sarah took a while but once Stephen realized he cared for Sarah he went straight to her. This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

The Bitter and the Sweet

His family embarrassed her, he helps her, but she heads home to get away from it. Later she has to return and finds that Steven is more down to earth than his family. Good clean romance. Nice narration.

When you stay sweet through the bitter

I have not listened to all of the books in this series, so they can be heard out of order. However, I really enjoyed this sweet story about Sarah and her life. She never wavered and stayed strong through difficult times. I felt like the narrator was perfect for the story. She had this simple voice that matched the time period and plot to perfection. Enjoyable!!
