Publisher's summary

Billionaire boss and sassy journalist stuck together: an unexpected love story of enemies to lovers with a life-changing secret at stake.

I never thought I'd find love again, but then I met her. She was smart, beautiful, and everything I never knew I needed. We fell for each other hard and fast, but our happiness was short-lived. As we navigated the ups and downs of our relationship, I realized that I had a secret that could tear us apart. I didn't want to lose her, but I also couldn't bear the thought of living a lie. The stakes were high, and the clock was ticking. Would I have the courage to tell her the truth, or would I risk losing the love of my life forever?

A stand-alone contemporary romance with a happy ending a.k.a. they live happily ever after....

Triumphant in a lot of areas

The lonely Billionaire met and was attracted to the reporter Joy. Then a scandal happened. Is Joy an enemy or his savior?

The narration was good and the story has engaging characters. Love the way their love slowly developed. This was suspenseful 'til the end. I kept anticipating/ speculating on what will happen to them and how they are going to resolve this.

Recommend reading this enjoyable story of triumph- of love, honesty , belief in people and hope.

Good Story

This was my first FJ Lucky's book, and won't be my last. Nathan and Joy's story is filled with drama, secrets, suspense, and twists and turns. The characters are well developed. The plot is interesting, and intriguing. Lanna Saunders did a good job bringing this story to life. The Billionaires' Worst Secret!

This is a good story about trust and finding love with some seriousness. The story is about Nathan and Joy. A person is trying to frame Nathan but he refuses to be apart of it. Joy is a journalist that ends up fired because she does not want the advances her boss is trying to make. These two meet at a wedding for his friend and her sister. They have undeniable chemistry between each other. The story is a touch emotional with suspense, passion, love and a touch of fun. The narrator did a good job bringing the story and characters to life.

I had a good time.

I really needed a male narrator for the male main character.
It was confusing at the beginning. Was she being set up for an interview or a date?
This did not give me the feels. I kept questioning where it was going. I don't want to give spoilers but I kept thinking is he grumpy, gangster, misunderstood? It confused me as to were these characters were suppose to stand or feel, if it makes sense.

Great storyline

This was a great plot it has all the things you are
looking for in a romance.
Drama a little suspense that kept my attention and
of course a little steam.

Enjoyed

Nathan and Joy will keep you on the edge of your seat with their slow burn love story. Nathan has a mafia boss making his life miserable. Joy is trying to get her journalism career restarted. Neither tell each other the full truth and almost lost a love they were starting to share.
The narrator does an excellent job reading the story.

Worst Sort of Depiction of Intimate Assault

The billionaire subgenre of contemporary romance is still hot, hot, hot. Because so many billionaire romance books come out every week, the familiar tropes get stale pretty quickly, though I always hold out hope an author will pleasantly surprise me. In the first chapter from the hero's perspective, where we see his life and internally hear his potty mouth, I nearly groaned from the similarity of it to all the others in this category. However, I became alarmed when I listened to the first chapter from the heroine’s perspective. In general, I'm a fan of showing, not telling. I absolutely abhor infodumps. But that might have been preferable in this case. Instead, this first chapter shows in all its gory detail how the heroine was sexually assaulted in a workplace setting—she's a journalist preparing to interview a prominent person—and we soon find out she will be fired because of this entanglement and has been blackballed by the perpetrator in her industry. Sexual harassment is such a horrendous and very real problem for so many women; I don't feel it should be trivialized and used as backstory in a story like this. First, it can trigger for women who have any history of workplace sexual violence or any sexual violence. While I don't think it necessarily needs to be swept under the carpet in fiction, authors should really tread lightly, treat the subject and heroine respectfully, and warn, warn, warn about how specific and detailed the account of such will be in the story so women who justifiably have problems with it can steer clear of the book. This was handled so poorly in the book itself that I could not continue. If on-screen sexual violence against the romantic heroine doesn't trigger you or if you don't mind it being used irresponsibly in fiction, this may not bother you as much as it did me.
