Best reading of the Bible I've heard

Just voice. The word stands alone. No music or artistic to-do needed. And what a voice! Gregory Peck is wonderful in his reading. I would love to hear James Earl Jones read the New Testament and was thrilled to see it was available until I read in the reviews there was piano music in the background. I don't want that. One thing, I can't read this all the way through in one time period. I've been listening over about 6 months, and may listen again. Recommended!

Book of biblical proportions

What did you love best about The Bible: The New Testament?

I have never read the Holy Bible to the finish, and for me it I don't have the desire to. Having it read to me is a rare and discovering find. I can see the Whole when before just the parts and Gregory Peck's narration is amazing for he has the voice of a prophet. I am not finished yet but I am in no hurry since each session is illuminating in a way I could have not realized. It is especially wonderful to compare the four gospels of M,M,L, and J in such clarity in a way I could not claim by reading.

Beautifully read by Gregory Peck ... gorgeous!

I suppose the late Gregory Peck was a fine actor, but he must have been much more than that. There is exemplary dedication to the loving perfection of every aspect of craft in evidence here. As the end product of so much visual Hollywood enterprise, he chose to care for his voice.

The reverence, the cadence, the flawless pronunciations and punctuating -- I am astonished that he could get through nineteen hours of this, without any instance of stumbling or exhaustion -- and positively not one mistake.

I have enjoyed listening to this in the KJV translation that like so many in my generation I had all but given up on. Peck makes it so accessible it's as though I've simply learned a new language just by listening, and the central charm in the way he reads, is that he makes it all so readily understandable.

Sometimes I enjoy just listening, letting it flow, as I know I will over and over again in years to come. Sometimes I enjoy listening while also visually reading the KJV on my paperwhite. And again, Peck does not make one mistake.

Gregory Peck at His Best

Mr. Peck's voice has always been a great extra to complement his acting talent. if you were lucky enough to watch and listen to him in movies you can see him become part of The Holy Bible in this reading.

The Bible:The New Testament (Unabridged)

I think Mr. Peck's reading is excellent. I only wish Audible would provide equally good readings of a modern translation; I prefer the New American Standard or the English Standard Version.

Faith comes by hearing, and oh boy does it just!!!

The New Testament has a thread that seems to flow from start to finish. After going through the New Testament in around six weeks, I couldnt wait to get started again. I have discovered truths by listening that I have overlooked many times during reading. It's awesome....get it!!

I enjoy this reading of the bible

I enjoy listenting to the bible and this is my favorite audio bible. It is broken down into three parts which may be an issue for some. Its not for me. I listen to the bible for the spirtual. This reading of the bible touches my soul. The King James is the most poetic version of the bible; combine that with Gregory Peck as the reader and something special happens.
