I love all your stories

I had the series on records ( I am a grandmother) and now on my iPad. My husband and I had them for our children and now our grandchildren listen to them . It is a wonderful way , an additional tool ,to teach the values and morals to our loved ones. God bless each one of you as you continue to make these stories. As a side note, I use some of the true to life stories for the children's story at our church

Accuracy Lacking

Any additional comments?

The Bible narration was ok, it was not an accurate translation however. When the accuracy is questioned, the truth of the Word is questionable.

it has the word bs in it by Abner 8.08

it was ok until I got to Abner saying this is bs that got to me. I let my children listen to it! I've listened to it.! wow kids are not safe under any situation. this is so disrespectful. there are so many words he could have used! and it's racist, Lacky as the slave. I've tried to over look that, but I feel frustrated and annoyed, smh really?. this could have been awesome and it was until I listened to the words! this is the Word of our Creator YHVH show the upmost Respect. please?!

Response to grandma and general review

So there is some inaccuracy, like not mentioning all of David’s wives, and I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have the actual chase with abner and joab’s brother, and just had Abner staying still, but for the most part, it’s OK, especially compared to some of the other stories that they’ve butchered like Adam and Eve, or some of the others of the first set of stories. It’s mildly annoying with all these people talking about how the Messiah is going to be the son of God, since I don’t think that was well known at the time, but again that’s one of the tiny annoyances, and not nearly as bad as some of the major things in the first set like Adam and Eve only ever talking to angels and never God, or how they rewrite history stories like Adoniram Judson and throw accuracy to the wind. I have to listen to the next half of this set just to make sure that there’s not anything major, but everything seems decent so far.

I almost didn’t buy this because of Grandma’s reviews, but I ended up giving it a chance. I almost thought they said the bs word too, but when I played it a second time, I realized he was saying Ish-Bosheth so it’s just a situation of a difficult to pronounce Bible name. Haven’t gotten to that Lackey part, but I don’t think it’s meant to be racist, but just probably representative of a power-hungry king. Looking it up, it doesn’t actually look like there’s any racist connotations to it, but it just means someone who is a servant who basically falls all over themselves to serve the person. The first time I heard this was with Pharaoh, and I don’t know if I heard it with Joseph or not, but I doubt it’s meant to be racist. It might still get you smacked if you use it on your friends or your siblings :) but it’s not a curse word.

All that said, I think that parents should make a practice of listening to the stories with their children, or before their children, just in case they hear something that they want to correct or that makes them decide not to play it. That’s generally a good idea with any story.

Timeless

I must say that Your Story Hour is THE reason I have a subscription to Audible. I grew up on these stories and my kids did as well. Now I have grandchildren and want them to enjoy them.
These stories don’t use magical characters to “entice” kids to learn about the Bible. These are so well done. My husband and I listen to them over and over again. We have almost all the Story Hour productions that Audible offers! It is worth the subscription to Audible for these alone! Thank you Audible for carrying them!!!
