Science-fiction fans rejoice! Killco Publications has collected some of the best pulp fiction stories for your listening pleasure. During the heyday of science fiction pulp magazines (1930-1963) many excellent stories by, "one shot wonders" and writers who went on to become giants in the field of science fiction were first presented. Magazines like IF Worlds of Science Fiction, Amazing Science Fiction Stories, Galaxy Science Fiction, and Fantastic Universe were a treasure trove of these stories.
This volume presents a dozen of the best stories from those publications. Killco Publications has worked hard to tactfully update these stories. The plot or characterizations have not been touched but obvious anachronisms and/or outdated references have been adapted for a 21st century audience. In addition, we include information on the author, magazine, and the story itself.

Great Collection..Well read.
What did you love best about The Best of Pulp Sci-Fi: Volume 1, 1952-1955?
These is an excellent collection of sci-fi stories. They are from the 50's but the "updating" mentioned in the intro must have worked well because they did not seem dated at all.
To each his own, I guess, with the narration. I thought it was excellent. Since another reviewer did not, I suggest you listen to the sample...it's almost 5 minutes long...and judge for yourself.

Excellent Pulp Sci-Fi Short Stories
Seriously enjoyed, “The Best of Pulp Sci-Fi: Volume 1,” a collection of some of the best Pulp Sci-Fi stories from the early 1950s! I had been looking for some Pulp from the 50s on Audible, and other Audio Platforms, but had trouble finding anything worth listening to. I’m happy Audible released this Volume, and I hope additional Volumes are being considered! I’m looking forward to the next collection of Pulp Sci-Fi from the 50s on Audible!

Dated stories made worse by poor performance
Would you try another book from Brian Killavey (editor) and/or Jim Roberts?

How did the narrator detract from the book?
Very poor performance, bad voice inflection, distracted from the story content. I had to stop listening about a third of the wat through the collection.
Do you think The Best of Pulp Sci-Fi: Volume 1, 1952-1955 needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
