many of these left me feeling stupid

I'm pretty well educated, and a creditable writer in my own right, but I just don't get most of the stories in this collection. They seem pretentious and snobby to me. I guess these are really for fiction connaisseurs and English lit majors.

Terrific anthology

I read this series every year, and it's wonderful to be able to listen to the stories now. The multiple narrators are great. The stories are a stellar representation of the diversity of authors, themes, story structures. One weirdness with the audiobook, though -- some of the stories are not in the same order as in the e-book (and I assume the print book). That shouldn't be a problem, but I'm in a book club that is discussing the stories in order, one a week, and listeners have to be careful to read the same story!

Review

The stories are long and descriptive. Get to the point of the story a little sooner.
