Publisher's Summary

An innocent discovery on a Montana ranch two years ago, sets off a series of events that may very well change the world . . . if it doesn't end it first.

Professor Delaney McPhearson's life is turned upside down when her best friend, archaeologist Drew Masters, is found dead. Before she can deal with the heartbreaking loss, she is viciously attacked in her home by a man with inhuman fighting abilities. Former Navy SEAL and head of security for a global think tank, Jake Rogan drops everything when he hears his foster brother Tom Jeffries has gone missing. There seem to be no clues, no information about his whereabouts. He has just vanished. But Jake won't rest until he finds him.

Laney and Jake join forces when they learn that the fates of their loved ones are intertwined. And somehow all the danger that dogs their steps, revolves around an eccentric archaeologist's controversial work on Gobekli Tepe, and the search for an ancient source of power. Their personal quest soon becomes a race to protect humanity's very existence. But how can they defeat a foe who has been planning his moves for millennia? To save mankind, Laney and Jake know they must succeed. But to succeed, they must live long enough to fight.

FUN! I'm looking forward to the next-in-series!

While I'm far from any kind of expert (school of "I know what I like"), I thought The Belial Stone was well written. The story was well assembled and enjoyable. My only critical comments to the author are to be careful with character POV descriptions that exceed the character's demonstrated knowledge (an every day person would probably identify "machine gun looking weapon" but probably not think "AK47s") and the use of cliche-descriptions (the ground bucked like a bronco... the car pealed from the parking lot... ? hmm) . Good descriptions elsewhere in the book provide evidence the author can do better. The only other comment I will make is about the narrator, who mispronounced a few words that I would have thought common (SUFFice for suFFICE), but I am also often brought up short by correct alternative and dialectical pronunciations, so maybe it was my ear's as much as the narrator's slip. However, I do think the narrator was off in her Israeli and Scottish accented English.

In summary, the title of this review says it all.

Good story, but dull narration.

Where does The Belial Stone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Right in the middle. Have read much better and much worse.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Belial Stone?

The attack on the compound until the end.

What didn’t you like about Leslie Wadsworth’s performance?

Her voice was too uninteresting and flat. She was also poor when performing accents.

fascinating premise

This was an excellent book with a fascinating premise! There was never a dull moment and I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. The narration was great, and though a couple accents were a bit off, I never found it detracting from the listen. Though there is a thread of attraction in the story, I appreciate the lack of gratuitous sexual content (at least in book one), which often feels like some sort of checkbox on a writer's mandatory hit list for a book to be successful. This plot needs no such crutch! There is some language but it is appropriate to character and situation, again not gratuitous. I am eager to read more by this writer, and you should be too! My husband has already listened to book two and keeps telling me to pick up my pace so we can talk about it!

Great Story- enthralling

Great book, great characters with a decent plot line. A bit predictable in a few cases and it makes a great read for in the car or while doing other things about the house. The details the author crafts are awesome.

I'd like the other books to be available as well so that I can listen to them.

This was a very nice surprise!

Where does The Belial Stone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The author is very good and the story idea is not the typical supernatural storyline. I have been reading and listening to ALOT of books lately and have come to realize how many really bad books get published and recorded. This is not one of those!

What about Leslie Wadsworth’s performance did you like?

The narrator is very good (with the single exception of her Scottish accent, which thankfully is a very brief part). I enjoyed her performance and hope she will record the remaining books in this series SOON. =)

Any additional comments?

I sincerely hope that Audible records the remaining books in the series.

decent story

this is a pretty decent story with an interesting plot. this is entertainment so don't expect "true" depictions of everything. it does however paint a good story that has a good amount of excitement that will keep your attention I think the few critical reviews you will find are from people who take themselves tooo seriously. it's entertainment folks not real life!

A fantastic start to a series

A very clever concept for a book/series and well executed. Loads of action built upon a mystery that will likely play out over the course of several books. Characters that are extremely compelling. Readers will either love them or hate them, depending on their role in the story. And as it should be, readers are left wanting more.

Review Belial Stone

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I like the combination of fallen angels & humans fighting each other while attempting to unearth ancient artifacts of past civilizations. I especially appreciate this author's use of factual data to augment her fictional story.

Great Read

Where does The Belial Stone rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

While waiting for the next Clive Cussler/Tom Clancy books to come out I thought I'd try another series and the Belial Series did not disappoint

What did you like best about this story?

Really enjoyed a strong female presence in the book. Good to see that a woman could hold her own.

What about Leslie Wadsworth’s performance did you like?

Whilst I'm partial to Scott Brick's reading style Leslie did a good job,

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Was moved that Tom despite all his hardships still looked at protecting Laney in the compound.

Any additional comments?

Will definitely get the next in the series. Am really interested in Henry Chandler's story.
