David H Montgomery (1927 - 2011) was a professor of history at Yale University. The Beginner's American History was intended by the author as an introduction to basic American history; it aims to provide the facts to those beginning the study of US history. Starting with Columbus, the book concludes with the chapter titled “Since the Civil War”. The author took care to state only those facts that are backed by authority. I hoped to find a recording of this book that we are using in our history curriculum. The performance was so terrible that we couldn't even make it through a minute of the book.
