Alicia McCarthy is traveling to the isolated cliffs of Valentia Island for her wedding. It is supposed to be a celebration of her heritage and a reunion for her sprawling family. But the stone cottages they rented sit on ancient ground, and the weather is closing in.

The first night, the storm brings the rain. The second night, the storm brings the wail.

A sound like nothing human is circling the cottages, pressing against the walls, and calling out to them. Alicia's father always told her that changing her name at the altar would sever her from the old family debts. He was wrong. Blood does not forget, and the entity waiting in the fog has come to collect the eldest of every branch.

With the ferry grounded and the windows shattering under the weight of a relentless force, the remaining family members must survive the night against a predator that cannot be reasoned with, cannot be fought, and will not leave until the line ends.

A church ceremony and a legal document mean nothing to a centuries-old debt. The distinction between inside and outside is about to cease to exist.
