When a sink hole opens up near the Australian outback town of Pintalba, it uncovers a pristine cave system. Took me back!
I remember watching the movie this story was based on... but this was waaay better! The narrator is a little overwhelming, but once you put yourself back in time to the days of overly melodramatic acting, she becomes quite enjoyable. I found myself wondering what could possibly happen next... who's going to get hurt?... why do people like this creepy little girl so much? I've been thoroughly disturbed.

Good story, no to the narrator.
I’ve enjoyed the story and movie version, gave me the shivers. My only problem was in the narrator. I don’t wish to be rude but I have to state that I found the acting and voice of the narrator reading the roles of the mother, Christine, and of the daughter, Rhoda, to be annoying. Since those are the two main characters of the book I do not see myself wanting to listen to narrator’s portrayal and reading a second time.

A old favorite
I’ve seen the old black and white movie a few times. But I think I love the book more. It’s about the age old question is evil made of it’s environment or can it simply be born of that nature. And gives you a glimpse of what pure pyschopathy looks like in a child. And knowing this as a parent, how far you would go to protect your child or protect others from your child.

Good to know creepy stories existed in the 1950s
A great story about a murderous little kid and the fallout of her actions. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the book turned out.

it was awesome. scariest shit a parent could go through. this story is much better than what made it to the silver screen. loved the bessie denker part of the story. wish they kept that.

The bad seed
This is an oldie but a goodie.Rhoda seems like a nice girl,but she is actually a conniver.Elizabeth Wiley was a terrific narrator.
