Publisher's summary

Over 90 percent of the population suffers from inflammation or an autoimmune disorder. Until now, conventional medicine has said there is no cure. Minor irritations like rashes and runny noses are ignored, while chronic and debilitating diseases like Crohn's and rheumatoid arthritis are handled with a cocktail of toxic treatments that fail to address their root cause. But it doesn't have to be this way.

In The Autoimmune Solution, Dr. Amy Myers, a renowned leader in functional medicine, offers her medically proven approach to prevent a wide range of inflammatory-related symptoms and diseases, including allergies, obesity, asthma, cardiovascular disease, fibromyalgia, lupus, IBS, chronic headaches, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Paleo Diet For Autoimmune Disease

Be aware that this is a Paleo diet and not suitable for people who are vegans, vegetarians or just trying to limit their intake of animal based proteins. It would have been helpful if that information was made clear in the review or publisher introduction and overview. The diet presented here is very rigid and limited and there are no variations or alternatives for non meat eaters.

What an annoying voice!!!!!

I really liked the book's information, but I feel like the author is a snotty jerk. Maybe it really was written with a snotty attitude or maybe it was just the speaker. I know for sure that I never want to listen to her speak again. As much as I was interested in the book, it took me a while to get through it because I couldn't stand her voice & attitude. It made my baby cry!

Can be condensed to 10 pages

A lot of health info and has some general tips on a good diet and only a little bit of what to eat.

Author spent too much time on what we have been doing wrong -80% of the book.

I learned something. I know what I should stop doing But still not sure what I should do exactly.

I feel books like this can be condensed to 10 pages. A lot of fillers of unnecessary examples.

The Worst Paleo-esque Diet Book Ever

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The writer came through as self centered and egotistical. She said, "the Myer's Way" a million times and then never really said what the way was. It was inferred by all the fear mongering she was doing but never spelled out. This was probably because she's just rebranding Paleo to cash in. Also, We get that she's a MD but who cares anymore about them. Facts are facts; eating Paleo is better than almost any other diet format but no one gets to rebrand the human diet.

Has The Autoimmune Solution turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, just her.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Tanya Eby?

anyone else. She didn't help the book sound any less egotistical. She does sound smug.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Yes, it made all the other Paleo books look that much better.

Any additional comments?

I feel like she reached in my pocket and robbed me. This was a first and I won't soon forget. I hope her practice goes well and that she heals patients like she claims but she should have opened a big can of humiliation before publishing this trash.

PDF?

I bought the audiobook get all the way to freedom from autoimmune disorder to find there is no PDF. Very upset that the book all builds up to the Meyer plan, then there is no plan.

No Solution, just a quack trying to sell vitamins

I have been struggling with my thyroid and psoriasis for years (since I was about 16-17 years old). I have been desperate to mange my symptoms. But this quack of a doctor spends 75% of the book just telling you that you are probably sick and that the Meyer's way will fix it, all of it. It's very simple the meyer's way is just a glorified diet where the only thing you can eat are chicken/fish, lettuce, and water. If you don't take the magical supplements (that she sells) and live off of the most boring food ever you will have to take medicine and die. I was so hoping this would be the answer to my health issues, when really it was just another snake oil salesman.

Redundant

Fourth-grade biology level, at best.
Every chapter regurgitates the same information already stated ad nauseam, gives a sliver of new information and tells you repeatedly about how wonderful the Meyer's System works.
Tanya Eby talks likes she's reading a story to preschoolers.
Aweful. Waste of money.

Worst book ever.

This is an incredibly annoying infomercial. If I could give no stars, I would. Narcissistic self promoting marketer. Awful awful woman. I might actually ask for my money back. Was I clear about how much I disliked this book?

A positive message about autoimmunity

Narration was delightful, and the message is a rare comprehensive message that autoimmunity can be improved or eliminated through diet and modern knowledge of what triggers the immune system, with fresh ideas based on science and emerging genetic discoveries. First book that left me in an uplifted mood, unlike all the negative stuff we get from modern medical doctor-robots practicing outdated and incorrect science in 7-minute doses.
